We visited Bacha Coffee in Ion Orchard on 14 February 2021. The shop was opened as early as 9.30am. We reached there at about 11am and there was quite a long queue with over 10 groups of people in front of us. And what's more the restaurant was already fully packed that time. So we waited for about or more than an hour for the dine-in (we chose to wait for a longer time in order to get a nicer table, want to avoid the tables near the windows because photos will be not that nice haha 😅). The restaurant was famous due to the sparkling gold decoration and made it a truly Instagrammable place for some ji-mui gathering or dating purpose. We were curious on the taste of Marrakech coffee beans and those gold coffee bean pot on all tables certainly attracted our attention as well!
After seated, we were given the menu (LINK) and were spoilt of choices especially on the coffee menu. It was the thickest coffee menu that we ever looked at, as thick as a book, no kidding! We were lazy to flip through the whole menu and just asked the waitress for the recommendation instead. Interior looking of restaurant, looking good with gold and blue theme |
While waiting for our foods to be served, we spent some time to take selfies. Who can resists the temptation of the glorying gold and deep blue theme decoration over here. Especially with the gold counter behind as the backdrop, felt like shimmering in gold (Dubai's "atas" feeling 😂 although I have never been to Dubai haha😅).
We ordered "Sidamo Mountain" coffee which was originated from Sidamo (located in the south at the edge of the Ethiopian Highlands in Africa) and home to small plantations of exceptional coffee bean quality. The coffee beans have a spicy, fragrant aroma accompanied by a very full body, rich in notes of cracked cocoa bean. It was an outstanding rarity of coffee beans with a surprising floral notes which added to the coffee's complexity and charm. Sidamo Mountain had a medium caffeine strength, chocolate/floral/spice flavour profile, and medium dark roasted.
Before serving the coffee, they gave us the brown sugar, vanilla powder bottle and fresh whipped cream, which we could use to add inside our drinks. Brown sugar was used to add some little sweetness in the coffee for those who preferred less bitter type, vanilla powder was used to raise the taste of the coffee, and fresh whipped cream was used to smoothen up the coffee drinks much like the milky cappuccino type.
In Bacha Coffee, you can have more than one way of enjoying your coffee drinks here, and what's more it was served in the golden coffee hotpot which made a one of a kind experience compared to other café, I must say Bacha Coffee is worth the queue instead! 💛
We ordered brunch set for sharing. Our chosen menu as below:
1. Coffee of our choice : Sidamo Mountain
Taste Review: After tasted, we felt the coffee was quite pure and strength was quite strong. I enjoyed the coffee very much because the texture was quite "authentic" and thick. My husband preferred milky style and thus he added in the cream to make it smooth when drink. I have tried to add in vanilla powder as well to spice up the whole drink.
2. Juice of our choice : Orange Juice
Taste Review: Usual orange juice to freshen up your tastebud
3. Menu of our choice : Scrambled Egg with Truffle
Taste Review: The scrambled egg with truffle was quite delicious as it has been cooked and seasoned nicely with truffle oil. They provided us two bread sticks for us to dip into the scrambled egg, much like chinese "youtiao" version. I tried to pour a little bit of coffee on top also, not bad though.
4. Dessert of our choice: 1910 Coffee and Chocolate Croissant, Moist Chocolate Cake and Strawberry Pistachio Tart
Taste Review: 1910 coffee and chocolate croissant was filled with chocolate inside and had a crusty layers. It would be better if there were more chocolate. The crust was crispy, no wonder almost every table had this. Moist chocolate cake was quite nice and chocolate-ty. Some chocolate flakes were hidden inside the moist cake too. Strawberry pistachio tart had fresh strawberry layered on top and shimmered with silver flakes. (Note: If you were interested to eat gold flakes, then remember to order their Tolteca chocolate coffee cake)
