Check In Cruise

Here comes the memorable 9.9 day for us! Finally a getaway from Singapore and bid farewell to work *temporarily*! 😛😸

Please take note that due to pandemic, safety precaution is in placed for passengers to board Royal cruise. Thus 2 days before the sailing date (7th Sep), we have traveled to Raffles and done swab test. We got the swab test result one day after (8 th   Sep). On the  day of sailing (9th Sep), we are required to do ART test before on board the ship too. We got the result in about 15 minutes and then we are good to go afterwards (need to wait about 30 minutes roughly, staff will call accordingly)!

Take some time to tie some hair braids, good mood!

Wefie in the empty MRT, yes we are so ready for the trip!

This is much like airport, except the flight icon has been changed to ship (see if you able to spot!).
Miss the traveling feeling, has been almost 2 years since last travel.
Walk inside the terminal and show your passport and do some baggage checking too!
The procedure to board the cruise is exactly same with airport.
Be prepared for a long queue here, even we reach 30 minutes earlier than the appointment time (2pm)!
FYI, ship will be sailing at 8pm. 2pm slot is the earliest one I am able to secure.

2 days before the sailing date (7th Sep), we have done swab test.
The day of sailing we are required to do ART test 1 hour before on board too.
This is Royal's safety precaution due to Covid-19.
While waiting for ART result, we sit down in this area.
The ship is just in front of my eyes! You can see the tiny balcony decks from here!
I can even spot some people resting on the decks already!
Just how early they can reach, I wonder! I know if you are staying in suite, you have early access to the cruise since you are VIP!

After done and clear result, let's start to get excited and on board the Royal cruise!
This is the passage way which will link you to Deck 5 of the ship.
And there you are inside Quantum of the Seas already!

Balcony stateroom with ocean view at level 12.

We upgrade ourselves to balcony room
and this is our private deck to chill day and night

Quickly take some balcony photo 1st before heading out to explore the cruise.

See the blue color 'watches' we are wearing, it is called tracelet (tracing bracelet).
My hand is actually holding a blue card also, it is called set sail pass card.
We need to wear this tracelet all the time with us and scan in/out this set sail pass card for every activity/restaurant/show we go in the ship, throughout the whole trip. These tracelet and set sail pass card are used for contact tracing purpose, so bring it with you at all time. We are wearing purple wristband too, is for sign for those who are fully vaccinated. (They split different hall for entertainment show, ie. purple vs all guests).

This is the view of Singapore skyscrapers from our balcony deck. Good bye!

We come to Deck 15 of the ship and this is the outdoor pool and fun zone especially for kids.

Do you see the yellow track which I step on, it is a running track.
The track surrounds the whole Deck 15, you can run with this vast ocean view in front of your eyes!

It is such a sunny day! The sky and ocean is so blue!
It is perfect for some photoshooting!

Rock Climbing

Venue: Deck 15
Booking Method: not applicable, only can walk in and queue

In Deck 15 of Quantum of the Seas, there is rock climbing activity available for you to experience. They have different courses for you to try, ranging from beginner to the toughest. OK, I have decided to go only for beginner level, while my husband is kind of being 'cheated' to try the most challenging level, because the instructor says that all of them are the same, hahaha 😅  Even is toughest, he is able to complete it and ring the bell (although I think I heard quite a few times of him putting out some weird sounds when climb further up, shhhh! later of the day he tells me the gap of the rock is far and some protruded out, he even needs to jump in order to ring the bell!) 👏.

For me, I take the beginner level, but I barely move few steps because too scared, LOL 😂
I feel my sweaty hands will make me fall down suddenly, I feel very insecure because the rock grip is not very big?  😂  So no photo of me here  because I am too lousy 😂.  I also got bruises on my leg (one big bruise and few small bruises) after this rock climbing 😥😭,  because my leg accidentally 'scratched' the wall 😰, bad example of rock climbers here.  As usual, I am not suitable for those adventurous activities, I guess is good for me to just go for bath then head for nice dinner.

Tips: The queue is usually long during the trip, so is best to do it on 1st day when the crowd is at it's minimal.

Tips: There are 3 types of difficulty levels here, from beginner to intermediate to hardest. Choose accordingly.

You can't miss out this big sculpture bear in pink in Deck 15.
This is the place for rock climbing.
They have different courses for you to try, ranging from beginner to the toughest.

It is our 1st time doing rock climbing.
He is being 'cheated' to go for the most challenging course without realizing.
You can see the shapes of brick will change and protrude out here and there.

Dinner @ Main Dining

Restaurant Name:  Main Dining
Dinner Date/Time: 9th Sep 2021/5.45pm (early slot)
Restaurant Venue: Deck 3 (refer to your Royal app, they split into Deck 3/4/5 for dinner to reduce the crowds)
Booking Method: Royal app (only book once and fixed timing slot for dinner throughout the whole trip)

It is time for dinner! Main Dining is one of the complimentary restaurants on board. There are few specialty restaurants with an extensive International cusines that serve to the passengers, you can have unlimited dining in these specialty restaurants by topping up your package. For complimentary restaurants, there are main dining, buffet restaurant, cafe for some coffee fix, hot dog stall, and etcetera. Provided the wide range of restaurants to choose from, we think it is already good enough for us and thus not further top up the package. It is up to you definitely, the food quality in Royal Caribbean Cruise is of top notch quality, it will never disappoint you in any way! 😋

The menu in Main Dining will change everyday, so rest assured you will not get bored in any way!  For daily lunch and dinner, we got 3 courses (appetizer, main course, dessert), A nd the best part is they are free flow, so you can order as much as your tummy can handle!  On top of that, you have complimentary bread, drinks such as juices/tea/coffee for every meal! Truly stuffed, we really gained weight after the pampering cruise trip. The best part of Royal cruise is their good quality dining and best service!

For every table, we have personal waitress and assistant waitress who take special good care of you throughout the whole dinner session for the 5d4n cruise trip. They have done very amazing job and provide 5 stars service definitely. They will remember your food preference and surprise you with a sudden treat, no joke! 😱😮💘 Also everyday the manager will walk and stop by each table to greet the diners, and have a fun chit-chat moment with you. They even give us special strawberry coated with chocolate for our last dinner. And they also let you take away some cookies for your supper, when you tell them you want 4 cookies, they give you 6. The couple beside us take away >10 cookies every night! When they demand for 10, they will give 12, and still can add on more if ask for more! They are generous indeed, I never feel hungry even a second during the holidays, O.M.G! This explains why we are gaining weight together due to the special care.. 😂😏

Funny thing is although I am a sweet tooth girl, I feel a bit too overwhelmed and "ji-lak" with daily desserts intake, like all meals of breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner, supper. My husband only focuses on main course and maybe a little bit of appetizer or few mouths of dessert after 2 days on board (due to indigestion?), for me I still continue with 3 courses till the end and still top up desserts as usual haha 😅 I am missing the nice foods on board so so much! 👍

Our dinner of the day:

Appetizer:
👉 Shrimp Ceviche
--> Lime-marinated shrimp tossed with cucumber, avocado, radish, red onions, cilantro and serrano chillies
👉   Escargots a la Bourguignonne
--> Baked snails in garlic-parsley butter, a true French delicacy

Main Course:
👉  Pan-Seared Sole
--> Flaky white fish served with jasmine rice, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and a fragrant anise-garlic-butter sauce
👉  Braised Beef Short Rib
--> Succulent beef short rib braised in a cabernet reduction, served with roasted root vegetables and mashed potatoes

Dessert:
👉  Lemon Curd Tartlet
--> Creamy lemon curd topped with torched meringue and a chocolate curl
👉  Dark Chocolate Custard
--> Topped with fresh raspberries and mint
👉  Royal Chocolate Cake
--> Layers of dark chocolate cake and decadent chocolate mousse
👉  Fruit Platter
👉  Vanilla Ice Cream

Tips: For dinner, you need to book through Royal app for the fixed timing slot throughout the whole trip. For breakfast and lunch, you can just walk in any time in between their mentioned operating hours in Royal app.

Tips: There are 2 main timing slots for dinner, one is 5.45pm-6pm (early slot). Another one is 8.15pm-8.30pm (late slot)

Tips: It is better to opt for early dinner slot if you are interested to see the entertainment show, as they have daily show at 8.15pm and 10.15pm. However, for those who prefer to do the on board activity (ie pool/gym/rock climbing/surfing and etcetera) which usually available at day time, then may opt for late dinner. For me, I take early slot since everyone is recommending the world class entertainment show which I am not hoping to miss out any! For the whole trip, we can only choose 1 timing slot for dinner, you can't rotate between early and night dinner slot.

Tips: You may go to Cafe Promenade (another complimentary restaurant) for supper, after entertainment show at night. They serve pizza, cookies, sandwich, cakes, coffee, tea and etcetera, which is good to kill some time at night or if your tummy is screaming for more foods intake.

From Royal app, you can see alot of choices when click inside Dining section.
Here will show you the Deck # (floor #) and location of the venue (forward/middle/aft of ship).

Our amazing personal waitress helps us with this shoot.

Can't say no to desserts, I know I am greedy, really spoilt for choice here.
Because everything looks so nice😱

Desserts to end the dinner. Missing lemon curd tartlet here, as I order it
after finish this round of desserts.. 😂

Dessert: Lemon Curd Tartlet.. 2nd round dessert again, and the last one, too full

Leisure Walk

Venue: Deck 4 (Wonderland specialty restaurant/music hall) & Deck 15 (Outdoor open area deck) & Deck 12 (Adventure Ocean)

After a fulfilling dinner, we go to have some leisure walk around the ship, mostly around Deck 4 and Deck 15. There are many Instagrammable and elegant places for you to take photos. 😉

Taken at Wonderland specialty dining restaurant (Deck 4).
Wonderland is very popular in Quantum of the Seas, not only the dining environemnt
is elegant (imagine yourself in Alice in the Wonderland), foods are nice, there is something special about this restaurant too is their menu. Their menu is a blank page and you need to dip brush into water and scrub through the blank page for the food menu to surface out! 🙀
Talk about innovation here too, no wonder the restaurant is called
Wonderland, Imaginative Cuisine 😻

Taken at the entrance of music hall (Deck 4), we have infinity illusion mirror here.

Taken at the entrance of music hall. There are many elegant and Instagrammable places for you to take photos on the cruise

Taken from Deck 15. You can see Indoor pool (Deck 14) from here. We have pool bar, pool for adults and kids, and most important two Jacuzzi! 💗
In Quantum of the Seas, they have jacuzzi in indoor pool, outdoor pool and solarium (adult only pool area). All of them are very crowded and you need to queue since they limit the usage of jacuzzi to one family per time. They have time limit of 10 minutes only for each usage per group.

We come out to Deck 15 which is an open deck area. From here we can see the night view of Marina Bay Cruise Center. Look it is the iconic Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and Singapore's flyer!

Hello, Royal Caribbean International! Ship begins to sail at 8pm. We don't hear any announcement? We are so funny, still go to ask the staff on board when the ship starts to sail. Then the staff replies us with a confused face: it is already moving.. 😂 OK, maybe it is too stable for a big cruise to move on the ocean as I barely feel the motion 😅 We then look out from the deck and really we can't see Singapore skyscrapers anymore, LOL.
Oh right, it is moving 😆

Our room is at Deck 12, and there is this Adventure Ocean just nearby our room.
Adventure Ocean is a place for kids to have fun, much like a playground.
It is late at night and close already, but still can take few photos at the outside of Adventure Ocean.

Bumper Car

Venue: Deck 15
Booking Method: Royal app (only can book once throughout the whole trip)

There is bumper car activity in Quantum of the Seas. It is located in Seaplex, Deck 15. In Seaplex, you can find this large space for bumper car. Bumper car usually starts 6pm onwards till night. At day time, this large space is being used for other activities such as dancing, exercising, basketball court and etcetera. In this Seaplex, there are many other activities to join too on Level 2 such as ping pong, table football, table hockey, Xbox and etcetera. For these activities, you need to reserve in the Seaplex counter just able to play it. These activities are popular!

For bumper car, you can reserve through Royal app.  We can only book once throughout the whole trip, to cater for more people to play this.  We have reserved for 8.30pm slot for today. The last slot of the day is 8.45pm. We reach at 8.30pm, however is being stopped from entering because we are not wearing athlete shoe. So we rush back to room and change to sport shoe. Remember to wear sport shoe if you are coming to play bumper car. They have written this notes in app too, just we forget to pay attention to.

One round of bumper ride usually lasts about 4 minutes.  Trust me, time flies. Feels like only 2 minutes if you ride it. Staff will play some fun songs as background music while you are riding the bumper car! Knock out others or being knocked by them! It is very fun and popular ride for adults and kids! 💙

Tips: Reserve bumper car through Royal app. Reserve other Seaplex activities through walk in counter.

Tips: If you would like to have another round of bumper car, you can walk in and try your luck. You will be able to ride it if nobody is queuing and still have empty bumper car. Big tips, come for the last slot of the day, usually you have a high chance to ride it! Don't say I not share this with you! 😃

Tips: Remember to wear sport shoe to play bumper car, else you will be denied entry. Safety first.

Seaplex fulls of fun activities such as bumper car, dance class, Xbox, ping pong and etcetera. For bumper car, reserve through Royal app, strictly only once per trip.
For other activities, reserve physically in the Seaplex counter with the staff members.

Since it is the last slot, Seaplex is empty and perfect for photoshoot.
Thanks to the staff who helps us to take this photo. We are wearing color matching couple outfits, theme of dark blue and white for tonight. 💏

Entertainment Show

Show Name:  Violinist Nadiia Voronkovo featuring the Cast of Starwater
Show Date/Time: 9th Sep 2021/10.15pm
Venue: Two70 @ Deck 5, Aft
Booking Method: Royal app

We have reserved an entertainment show for today, located at Deck 5, called Two70. There are 2 slots for today, which is 8.15pm and 10.15pm. We reserve for the hall which is strictly for purple wristband only. We are given a purple wristband, which we need to wear throughout the whole trip, it is a sign of fully vaccinated folks. Royal has arranged the show with 2 types: purple wristband only and all guests. You can check and plan your time accordingly. If unable to secure the purple wristband, you can opt for all guests too. 😀 For all shows, it is advisable to reach 30 minutes earlier to queue for it. Today is the 1st night, and there is not much queue. We reach 30 minutes earlier and apparently we are the first one to queue. For the rest of days, the queue can start to get long if is 30 minutes earlier, can you imagine? 😨

Tips: There are 2 halls available, one is for purple wristband only (for those who are fully vaccinated), another one is for all guests (a mixture of purple and non purple).

Tips: If you would like to have the best seating, do come as early as 30 minutes prior to the show.

We so "kiasu" (don't want to lose in hokkien langugage) and reach here 30 minutes earlier. There is still no crowd here, few minutes after us got few folks joining the "kiasu" team. Staff starts to welcome and prepare us to go in the hall. So don't worry you need to stand up for long if come early. They will let you go in the hall and you can seat comfortably inside.

Thanks to the "kiasu" style, we get to sit in the best audience seat, which is very much the front row.  You can see the show clearly without any obstruction which is very good.

All the performers and dancers are very professionally trained. Is our 1st show in Quantum of the Seas and we are truly blown away by the amazing performance! 👀

Amazing show here by the performer. The gown is very beautiful and shining bright like a diamond. 😎 A good way to end our 1st night in Quantum of the Seas. Unforgettable Starwater show! 😍

Manage to take some photos before leaving Two70 hall. Maybe it is the 1st night on cruise, not much audience for the night. Or maybe it is a bit late, since this is 10.15pm show. The show usually lasts for 45 - 55 minutes. They have 8.15pm slot for those who prefer an earlier time. Our best audience seats are well cushioned and comfortable, these seats usually taken in the blink of an eye!

Photo with an empty stage. This is the place where performers do their shows here.

After show, we back to room and call it a day. That's it for Day 1. Good night, sleep tight. And prepare for more fun tomorrow! 😃
