Highlights: Assorted gelato
We have the best gelato plus scenic Mt. Yotei view here! The shop is situated just a stone throw away from Silo Observatory which makes it very famous and crowded with visitors! Most of the time you will find yourselves queue up for the ice cream! They have two shops side by side, one is cafe and another is the famous gelato shop. They have indoor and outdoor area for you to enjoy your foods. For us, definitely it is outdoor because we like to enjoy foods in beautiful environment! They have outdoor flower garden and big field overlooking Mt. Yotei. For those who scare of sunburn but want to enjoy the Mt. Yotei view at the same time, they are caring enough to have few chairs which are nearby the trees!
There have more than 10 kinds of gelato varieties here and all of them are freshly made from the farm, i.e. the milk is produced from their own ranch and everything is handmade and so refreshing! They have seasonal special gelato as well and some of the flavors are actually Toyako's specialty and only available here! We order two cones initially, for me I choose milk and green tea double scoop gelato, my bf choose blueberry single scoop gelato! For the milk, it is fresh and light to taste. Green tea flavor is average to me because I prefer thick texture kind of green tea, so it is not strong enough for me to have the wow factor. Now, blueberry gelato exceeds our expectations here! It is super duper nice as everything is freshly made here, which make the blueberry gelato is so fruitful to taste and smell just so so nice! It is so delicious that we back to the shop and queue again just to buy another double scoop of blueberry and red perilla gelato! Again, among all the flavors, blueberry really tops it! The ice cream price in Hokkaido is certainly not cheap, it can be up to RM15 per cone, however it does not stop us from ordering more! No regret, got to eat till satisfied here! Certainly recommend, must go must go!
After two rounds of gelato and enjoying the beautiful view, we go to 'exercise' our bodies by playing some light sports in the big field! They have free sport equipment for you to play, ie. badminton, ball, and many other kinds. No wonder this shop is so famous among families with kids! You can easily spend more than 2 hours here! We love this kind of leisure travelling!

Sakaimachi Street, Otaru

Highlights: Matcha ice cream, Rainbow ice cream
We have the best matcha ice cream and top.1 Otaru specialty rainbow ice cream here! I am a matcha lover, and have already planned to savor matcha ice cream before coming to Hokkaido Japan. Japan is famous for matcha ice cream and matcha products (ie. green tea kit kat, fall in love so much!), and so when I get to know that there is one shop in Otaru that specially sells all green tea products, I certainly bookmark it during my visit to Otaru! They have light and thick types of matcha ice cream. For usual customer, mostly will choose light matcha ice cream. For me, I definitely will go to thick matcha ice cream without consideration. Thick matcha ice cream is slightly more expensive than light matcha ice cream. And similar with Lake Hill Farm, the price is around RM15~RM20 per cone as well. Again similar experience with Lake Hill Farm, I have ordered two matcha ice cream, 2nd round again! This matcha ice cream really gives me a WOW factor, especially after the 1st bite, my eyes directly enlarged, haha, no joke! It is so thick and good! Really have matcha texture inside, not the sweetened type but the genuine type! You got to try this when you come Otaru!
I have mentioned many times that Otaru is a heaven for dessert lover. They have this top.1 ice cream in Otaru that is famous and unique to try! Have you ever taste 7 layers of ice cream, with 7 types of flavors twisting rounds by rounds on top of the cone, and of course the heaviest ice cream ever! The 7 types of flavors are lavender, milk, chocolate, melon, green tea, strawberry, and grape. Your mouth and hands will get so messy when you eat this ice cream! Personally, I feel this rainbow ice cream is worth to give it a try, however speaking of the individual layer flavor, I personally feel is not on par when compared to the rest. But it gets unique when combined together! Like you have 7 kinds of ice cream lingered inside your mouth, all sorts of flavor mixed well with each other and make it so savory! Who says ice cream can only have one flavor? Yay for those indecisive types of people!

Farm Tomita, Furano

Highlights: Lavender ice cream
We have the best lavender ice cream with scenic Japan's countryside view here! Summer time in Hokkaido means lavender, lavender and lavender! (p/s: Of course also melon, but I do not get to try melon ice cream this time round..). Lavender ice cream here feels not the artificial kind of flavor that we often get somewhere else. It is not the kind of ice cream that feels too lavender flowery fake smell as well. The lavender ice cream in Farm Tomita here is just perfect and although light in texture, it does not feel fake or weird when eat it. What's more, the view in front of you is so picturesque and calming with beautiful lavender farm! Must try if you are in Hokkaido during summer!
