It was the day we paid a visit to this charming little town which fulls of wooden houses and the hometown to the famous triangle shape Toblerone chocolate mountain (a.k.a Matterhorn mountain)! The train ride from Bern to Zermatt was approximately 2 hours 15 minutes. It was quite a distance from Bern and Interlaken, which made travelers to hesitate whether to visit this town or not for their 1st visit in Switzerland, especially when they were on tight schedule. Take note that for travelers who bought Swiss Travel Pass did not need to worry on the train fares for 2 hours as everything is inclusive! If you travel by car, you need to park in Matterhorn Terminal Tasch and buy the train ticket from Tasch to Zermatt, as Zermatt is a car-free village so no car is allowed which makes it so pollution free. We saw horse carriage in Zermatt too which made it even more fairy tale look alike. Another thing to take note, if witness the famous Toblerone chocolate mountain is in your wishlist, you can utilize this pass for another 50% off for Gonergrat mountain excursion also! In Zermatt, you can slowly walk and explore the charming old town, taste the traditional cheese fondues, shopping till drop with cute souvenirs and tasty chocolates, visit Gonergrat observatory, conquer Matterhorn mountain and etcetera.

👉 Another activity for consideration here is the famous Matterhorn Glacier Paradise mountain excursion (altitude: 3,883m). It has the highest cable car station here, in which the there are four special cabins coated with Swarovski crystal in the outer layer of the cable car, and it is glass bottom cable car to let you adore the snowy mountain view as well! Apart from that, you can find the highest Europe Glacier palace here. There is snow park for skiing and snow tubing as well.

👉 The last recommended activity for consideration here is the 5 lake walk. The route is approximately 9km with 5 lakes in between Blauherd starting point and Sunnegga last destination point, the route is outlined here: Blauherd-Stellisee-Grindjisee-Grunsee-Moosjisee-Leisee-Sunnegga. It lasts for about 2 hr 30 min for one way to Sunnegga and another 2 hr 50 min for the way back from Sunnegga to Blauherd. This activity can only be done during summer season when there is no snow piling on the trail, typically from June to October it is opened. Remember to take the reflection of Matterhorn mountain when you visit the lake! Check the weather forecast, take all necessities for the hikes, and wear appropriately then rock the way!
