Kapalai Island (Day 3-5)
Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort
We went to Kapalai jetty, done some form registration on guests name and details. After that waiting for our speedboat to come and fetch us to Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort. It was full house on the day as it was peak season due to Valentine's day, the whole boat was full of couples.. 😂 The speedboat was a big one so luckily was not very bumpy ride. We sat for about 40 minutes before reaching the paradise! Suddenly out of nowhere in the vast ocean, the view of water village appeared 😨 and we knew we were about to reach the beautiful Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort, the Paradise on Earth! It was also known as "Maldives of Malaysia" as it was water bungalows built on the crystal clear turquoise ocean, much like Maldives 😻. Kapalai Resort was the most beautiful place in Malaysia from my opinion! It was very famous with tourists from Chinese and Korea before pandemic, and reservation can only be done 6 months prior 😱, it was easily sold out so grab before gone! Luckily due to pandemic, only Malaysian able to visit now and we could secure the room only 6 weeks prior, yeahhh! 😎

Welcome Drink & Briefing & Lunch
After landed in Kapalai island, we were welcomed with welcome drink (fruit juice) by staffs. We filled up a form and they had arranged us the room automatically (number assigned by resort and you are unable to choose specific room number). We attended a briefing session which told us about the safety precaution, meal hours, villa number and location. The resort was all inclusive means the rate you paid will cover both accomodation and meals (4 times per day), much like Maldives' concept too. Since it was not the time for check-in yet as we were only able to do so at about 2pm, we took a rest in the lobby, wandered around the resort, and headed for lunch. The lunch served here was buffet style, comprised of meats, seafoods, vegetables, rice and etcetera. We had our leisure lunch directly at the corner of restaurant. The best view seating was definitely nearby the window, you can eat and enjoy the beautiful view of overwater villa and turquoise ocean with fishes. The foods were average in taste, but the view was truly nice and relaxing.

Time for check-in! Buggy service was provided for the guests to reach your room with comfort.
NOTE: Room type and number are assigned automatically. No special request can be entertained. You only know them upon arrival on the day.
NOTE: There are 2 types of room. 1st is traditional room, 2nd is modern room.
NOTE: For traditional room, some of the rooms are equip with aircond, while some do not have, especially the front room number which are built quite some time back. However, for modern room which all of them are built at a later time, good news is all the rooms are equipped with aircond. (Remarks: We had stayed in both room types and with aircond luckily, but modern room was hotter compared to traditional room during day time. Maybe was due to the villa location.)
NOTE: Depending on your villa location and direction, some of them facing sunrise, while some facing sunset.
NOTE: The furthest villa location may take about 15 minutes by foot, so it is good to take the phone number for buggy service when you head for lunch as it is very hot during day time.
NOTE: There are sea snakes at night when they return to their home which is at the bottom of vase. They are poisonous, but will not attack human unless they sense danger. So beware when you head to dinner. (We still remember a guy crossing pass the sea snake without knowing and after that screaming "did I just pass through that, what the fxxx!" 😂)

- Initially we stayed in room 34 but moved to room 31 afterwards as the aircond was spoilt already. This was a good news for us because room 31 was having a vast ocean view, while room 34 was facing the staffs quarter, so a bit obstructed view compared to room 31. However, room 31 hot water was having some issues as well and we couldn't enjoy a proper hot bathtub because of this.
- The rooms were near to sunrise point but far from sunset point. It was easier for us to reach sunrise point and enjoy our sunrise at early morning.
- Although the amenities were older, the traditional room layout was romantic and had balcony overlooking ocean. Overall it was an enjoyable stay too.

- Amenities in modern room were new and in good condition.
- We stayed in room 81 facing vast ocean view, and had a very big balcony, it was very cool for photography.
- The rooms were near to sunset point but far from sunrise point. It was easier for us to reach sunset point and enjoy our sunset at early evening.
- Modern room layout was much like Maldives and had super big balcony overlooking ocean. We actually loved this modern room stay much more than traditional room!

Big balcony overlooking ocean directly! Room 81 is facing the sand bank also. When day time, tide water is low and sand bank will appear. When evening time, tide water is high and sand bank will disappear left only ocean, and thus floating villa! I have some drone videography on this, may refer to my Youtube Video EP2. Only few of the villas can have 2 different sand bank+ocean (day) / ocean (night) view. The rest of villas have same ocean view only throughout the day! I think that's what make this room 81 so special for me! 💗

What to Do in Kapalai Resort?
1) Sunrise Point- We came to Sunrise Point on Day 2 early morning as our traditional room villa was nearer to here.
- We passed by some of the villas and had some early morning photoshoot. The photo was nice as there are 2 rows of beautiful traditional villas floating on the ocean.

2) Sunset Point- We came to Sunset Point on Day 1/2 evening and Day 2 early morning to enjoy both sunset and sunrise from here.
- Sunset Point is usually more crowded compared to Sunrise Point. Guess it is easier for people to sleep later 😂. I am not a morning person also, unless I am traveling only haha!
- Sunset Point has a helipad also, is for helicopter to reach Kapalai Resort directly, instead of boat the usual mode of transportation. Guess this is only for those super rich people or stars who pay a visit here and afford to splurge on a cool helicopter transport!
- There is a lookout tower here also for you to climb and overlook the vast ocean and rows of overwater villas.

Borrow the bicycle from a friendly couple for this shoot. Cool spot to take some photo as you are riding the wooden bridge with the vast ocean view!

3) Rent a bike to tour around the whole island- There were 6 bikes available to use to tour around the whole resort. The management was planning to add more bicycles to cater for more increasing demands from the guests though.
- As the whole resort was connected by wooden bridge, you could reach from one end to another, either by walking or bicycling or just hopping on the shuttle.
- We got some really cool drone videography by bicycling the whole resort! Refer to the Youtube videos for more on this!

Green zone here nearby staff quarter. Whole rows of plants can be seen here. Traditional room 34 is actually overlooking this whole rows of plants from afar.
员工宿舍附近的绿区。在这里可以看到整排的植物。我们第一天的34号旧式水上屋，就是看着整排的绿区。
The best spot to take good photos is to cycle around the traditional room where we get the 2 rows of floating overwater villa extending out into the vast ocean! Refer Youtube video for the superb view!
拍好照片的最佳地点是在骑自行车环绕旧式水上屋，那里的水屋延伸到广阔的海洋！请参阅 Youtube 视频以挂观看更多的绝佳景色！
The sun is really scorching hot in this Kapalai Resort during the day time. Sunburn due to bicycle riding. 😌 Good thing we get really nice photos and videos here!
这个卡帕莱度假村的太阳真的很灼热。骑自行车都被晒伤😌 不过可以拍到超美的的照片和视频还算值得！
4) Rent a transparent kayak for the coolest Instagrammable photos- The most iconic thing to do here in Kapalai resort was to rent a transparent kayak (RM50 for 1hr) to have some of the prettiest photos for your trip! They even offered some drone photography/videography for those who are interested in this. I would say this was a very worth thing to do, not only for your social media, but for some truly blown away experience all for yourself!
There is a drone at the top right of the photo if you realize. It is such a nice spot to take beautiful photo of transparent kayak floating on top of this clear turquoise water and amazing coral reef at the bottom!
照片的右上角有一架无人机。这是可以拍摄到透明皮划艇，漂浮在清澈碧绿的海水和底部令人惊叹的珊瑚礁。轻轻松松出大片的好地方！
5) Snorkeling and diving in Kapalai island- Kapalai island was very nice for snorkeling as the place was preserved very well by the local authorities. What's more, day trippers who not stay in this island and boat tours were not able to pay a visit here, as this was a private island only for guests who stayed here. This would be so great for those who would like to away from crowds and had some perfect private snorkeling and diving session in this Sipadan region.
- If you are interested to visit Sipadan island for some amazing snorkeling and diving experience, it is good that you are staying in Kapalai Island. It is nearby Sipadan island, and staff can easily arrange the day trip for you. There is limited headcount daily to visit Sipadan island, and online comments that once you stay in Kapalai island, you can have a guaranteed headcount to go Sipadan island.

6) Take a stroll around the whole resort and have some coolest photography session- We had the most amazing time by touring and photoshooting around the Kapalai resort. Just looked at these views below. It was Paradise on Earth! 💓

Beautiful flowers all around the resort. The red vibrant flower color and clear blue sky definitely makes the photo turns out nicer that expected!

7) Laze in the hammock for some perfect me time- If you feel like doing nothing, why not sit at the hammock or restaurant and enjoy some lazy time glancing over the ocean to wait for the sunset moment.
8) Enjoy 4 meals per day with infinity ocean view- Kapalai resort was offering full board package for the guests. So we were able to have 4 meals per day, namely breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner every day. They were buffet options available with a wide varieties of food choices for us to dine in. However, from my personal opinion, the food quality here was just average. Definitely quantity more than quality here. Good thing was we were able to have seafood feast every day! Never lack of fishes and prawns here.
That's all for our 3D2N Kapalai Island trip. We had the most amazing time here and definitely this was the highlight of our Semporna trip! For those of you who are planning to visit Semporna, I would highly recommend you to stay in this Kapalai resort! Now I understand why this is called the most beautiful place in Malaysia, and why it has the name of Malaysia's Maldives! We hope this post and Youtube video can help you in planning the trip and giving you a good overall view of Kapalai Resort and what to do over here! - Sunset Point is usually more crowded compared to Sunrise Point. Guess it is easier for people to sleep later 😂. I am not a morning person also, unless I am traveling only haha!
- Sunset Point has a helipad also, is for helicopter to reach Kapalai Resort directly, instead of boat the usual mode of transportation. Guess this is only for those super rich people or stars who pay a visit here and afford to splurge on a cool helicopter transport!
- There is a lookout tower here also for you to climb and overlook the vast ocean and rows of overwater villas.

3) Rent a bike to tour around the whole island
- There were 6 bikes available to use to tour around the whole resort. The management was planning to add more bicycles to cater for more increasing demands from the guests though.
- As the whole resort was connected by wooden bridge, you could reach from one end to another, either by walking or bicycling or just hopping on the shuttle.
- We got some really cool drone videography by bicycling the whole resort! Refer to the Youtube videos for more on this!

4) Rent a transparent kayak for the coolest Instagrammable photos
- The most iconic thing to do here in Kapalai resort was to rent a transparent kayak (RM50 for 1hr) to have some of the prettiest photos for your trip! They even offered some drone photography/videography for those who are interested in this. I would say this was a very worth thing to do, not only for your social media, but for some truly blown away experience all for yourself!

5) Snorkeling and diving in Kapalai island
- Kapalai island was very nice for snorkeling as the place was preserved very well by the local authorities. What's more, day trippers who not stay in this island and boat tours were not able to pay a visit here, as this was a private island only for guests who stayed here. This would be so great for those who would like to away from crowds and had some perfect private snorkeling and diving session in this Sipadan region.
- If you are interested to visit Sipadan island for some amazing snorkeling and diving experience, it is good that you are staying in Kapalai Island. It is nearby Sipadan island, and staff can easily arrange the day trip for you. There is limited headcount daily to visit Sipadan island, and online comments that once you stay in Kapalai island, you can have a guaranteed headcount to go Sipadan island.

6) Take a stroll around the whole resort and have some coolest photography session
- We had the most amazing time by touring and photoshooting around the Kapalai resort. Just looked at these views below. It was Paradise on Earth! 💓

7) Laze in the hammock for some perfect me time
- If you feel like doing nothing, why not sit at the hammock or restaurant and enjoy some lazy time glancing over the ocean to wait for the sunset moment.
8) Enjoy 4 meals per day with infinity ocean view
- Kapalai resort was offering full board package for the guests. So we were able to have 4 meals per day, namely breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner every day. They were buffet options available with a wide varieties of food choices for us to dine in. However, from my personal opinion, the food quality here was just average. Definitely quantity more than quality here. Good thing was we were able to have seafood feast every day! Never lack of fishes and prawns here.
That's all for our 3D2N Kapalai Island trip. We had the most amazing time here and definitely this was the highlight of our Semporna trip! For those of you who are planning to visit Semporna, I would highly recommend you to stay in this Kapalai resort! Now I understand why this is called the most beautiful place in Malaysia, and why it has the name of Malaysia's Maldives!
