Thanks for the supports as always! 🤟💗

We visited Bynd Artisan+Sunday Folks in Ion Orchard Experience Store on Sunday weekend for teatime moment. It is a new cafe in town opened in Singapore on end of August, with the collaboration on two big brands namely Bynd Artisan and Sunday Folks. Bynd Artisan is a famous handmade leather and paper gift retail store. Sunday Folks is a famous handcraft dessert cafe. The interesting collaboration of this retail + cafe style has definitely makes this store a nice place to visit, whether it is to buy some gifts for your loved one, or just to have some luxury tea time moment chit chatting with family and friends. The interior look of the store is shimmering bright with the theme of gold-ish and white-ish decoration, which make it appears elegant in the shopping mall itself! 💃😍

The menu is quite extensive with drinks and variety types of dessert available to order. All of the desserts are so Instagrammable, trust me! 💓 My eyes have been fixed on ice cream parfait & cake before visiting this cafe, due to the beautiful outlook of the desserts which make it so tempting to savour! 👀✌ After flip through the extensive menu, we have ordered items below:

1) Ice Cream Petits Gateaux/Ice Cream Cake:

Menu Selection: Ete (blackcurrant ice cream with lemon mousse), Noir (dark chocolate ice cream tart with cherry), Marrakesh (pistachio ice cream with orange cream)

Price: SGD12 (Ete), SGD14 (Noir & Marrakesh)

Chosen Menu For Tasting: Noir

Taste Review:

  • Hard tart with dark chocolate ice cream inside, added with few big cherries.
  • The tart is not the buttery and flaky type, it is a really "hard" (but crispy) tart that is very difficult to even cut it 😂. I think the hard texture of the tart is to prevent the ice cream inside from melting it easily and become soggy which will be not nice to eat.
  • The mixture of cherries and dark chocolate ice cream make it special. They top it up with chocolate chunks for you to enjoy and also edible gold flakes which make it look even more elegant and "atas". 😎
  • Come together is an hourglass which is used as a timer to let the ice cream "soften" and blend well with the cherries. Follow the 5 minutes timer ⏲set by the waiter for the best consumption time! It is so fun to look at and while gazing at the sands dripping down, don't forget to snap photos here and there! After all, where can you get such a unique photo opportunity of dessert with hourglass in Singapore if not here! 😉📸
  • Overall personal opinion: Dark chocolate ice cream is not really high in intensity, for me I would prefer a thicker version and higher percentage of dark chocolate. But don't worry, it is not the cheap and runny type of chocolate. The quality of chocolate ice cream is still good to eat. They are very generous with big cherries too, which is not only refreshing but also elevate the dessert taste. Hourglass is cute to play with and unique kind of dessert tasting experience too!

Taste Rating (over 5⭐) : 4⭐

3 types of ice cream cakes to choose from.
LEFT: Ete,
RIGHT TOP: Noir,
RIGHT BOTTOM: Marrakesh

Top with chocolate chunk and edible gold decor.
Hourglass as timer!

2) Ice Cream Parfait:

Menu Selection: Genmaicha Yuzu, Earl Grey Butterscotch, Rum Raisins & Apple.

Price: SGD18 (Slightly on steeper side but must try if you are here!)

Chosen Menu For Tasting: Earl grey butterscotch (due to most Instagrammable😂)

Taste Review:

  • A lovely combination of earl grey and butterscotch ice cream: which make it aromatic and smooth when enjoy this
  • Fresh strawberries: on top as decoration and inside the glass as a refreshing layer when mix with the rest of ingredients and put into your mouth (not the preserved strawberries which is a plus)
  • Almond biscuits: which make it crunchy and presents a different taste feeling when mix together with ice cream, nice when eat alone too as the biscuit is crisp in texture (not the "leakage of air" & "soggy" type of biscuit if you know what I mean)
  • Earl gray jelly cubes: refreshing jelly cubes in between the layer when you eat, it is chewy and Q in texture, chilling to the mouth and aromatic when you bite it
  • Overall personal opinion: a delicious treat for tea time, especially love the different layers of  taste that you can get here with just pure one dish! If you have only one thing to choose from in this cafe, please don't hesitate to opt for ice cream parfait! I have not try the rest of 2 flavors so can't compare the taste yet.

Taste Rating: 5⭐ (MUST ORDER! Nice to see, nice to hold, and even nicer to EAT! 😋)

3 types of ice cream parfaits to choose from. All of them are so beautiful!
Truly a feast to the eyes and of course afterwards palate!
LEFT: Genmaicha Yuzu,
CENTRE: Earl Grey Butterscotch,
RIGHT: Rum Raisins & Apple

Our earl grey butterscotch ice cream parfait! 💕
Consists of earl grey & butterscotch ice cream, strawberries,
almond biscuit, jelly cubes, flakes, cream and etcetera.. 😋
The main attraction of the day in this cafe! 😍
Do it for your Instagram & most important your stomach! 😆

3) Seasonal Tea:

Menu Selection: Cherry Leaves Tea, Blackcurrant Tea, Orange Tea

Price: SGD8.50 (Blackcurrant Tea, Orange Tea) & SGD9 (Cherry Leaves Tea)

Chosen Menu For Tasting: Cherry leaves tea

Taste Review:

  • Cherry leaves have only very mild tea or fruity taste.
  • Good for cleansing the palate after some sweet desserts.
  • Overall personal opinion: as cherry leaves don't have much flavors to taste, it is a refreshing drink to balance up the sweet dessert. If you would prefer stronger aromatic scented tea maybe can opt for orange or blackcurrant tea. But if you would like light and clean texture, then opt for cherry leaves tea.

Taste Rating (over 5⭐) : 3.5⭐

Seasonal tea & ice quenchers menu

(In Front) Cherry tea leaves served in an elegant looking teapot.
It can retain the warmth of the tea inside so you can sip
and enjoy the tea slowly with the dessert pairing.

4) Coffee:

Menu Selection: Espresso Coffee, Filtered Coffee

Price: SGD4.50 (espresso coffee) ~ 8.50 (filtered coffee)

Chosen Menu For Tasting: Filtered Coffee (Finca Isnul)

Taste Review:

  • Finca Isnul coffee bean originated from Guantamela, central America region.
  • Tasting notes are on plums, honey and milk chocolate taste.
  • Filtered coffee is using V60 drip method which make the taste clear and fragrant to drink.
  • Overall personal opinion: nice and aromatic coffee, the intensity is quite strong too! Coffee lovers will love this for sure! As it has been filtered, there is no powdery feeling and thus left a very clean and smooth taste when you sip through it, afterwards the aromatic smell of coffee beans flows out and lingers slowly on your tongue. Special leather holder from Bynd Artisan has been incorporated here too which make it fun while pouring the coffee!

Taste Rating (over 5⭐) : 4⭐

Coffee and cocoa drink menu

(Behind) Filtered coffee served in a glass mug.
There is a leather holder from Bynd Artisan to let you hold the mug
while pouring out the coffee to the glass to drink.
A special sight to see when Bynd Artisan (leather store) cooperates with
Sunday Folks (dessert store) and how they have the creative idea to
mix and match to give you a fun tea time experience!

That's all for the sharing on Bynd Artisan + Sunday Folks @ Ion Orchard Experience Store. The total damage for 2 people was ~SGD58. Nice teatime session well spent in here! Afterwards, you can stroll and shop some leather products from Bynd Artisan too (many varieties displayed in the store, can check with staffs if you would like to customize for own product), or buy some cakes and ice cream from Sunday Folks if you are hunger for more desserts! Overall I get my craving fixed on good quality desserts here and definitely satisfy all the Instagrammers too with the fun hourglass and beautiful ice cream parfait! I will be back for more in future to try their ice cream when I am in Orchard too 💖! Till then, Bye-bye! 👋

TIPS: Come here during weekdays teatime session to save some bucks!

Matchaya, The Cathay

FAQ on Matchaya, The Cathay:

1. What attracts you to come to this restaurant?
👉 As a matcha lover, this restaurant attracts my attention when I researched online for nice matcha restaurant in Singapore. It has quite good rating online and thus I have paid a visit to Matchaya on a random weekend date with my husband. We had missed out our chance to travel to Japan to taste the authentic matcha in Uji, Japan ourselves in this year 2021 due to covid outbreak. I am delighted to know that Matchaya has carefully sourced their matcha from Uji, Japan. 😋

2. What do you expect to dine in this restaurant?
👉 Whole course of matcha stuffs, from beverages to main courses to dessert! 💚

3. What is the recommended time to dine in this restaurant?
👉 This restaurant is usually full house during peak hours. Best to avoid the timing if can. If not, I wouldn't mind queue for Matchaya!

We visited Matchaya, The Cathay on Saturday for lunch. Please note that only The Cathay outlet has dine-in option available, the other Matchaya outlet in Orchard is only for takeaway option. Please note also No reservation can be made online for Matchaya in The Cathay, you can just walk in and wait for your turn. We reached Matchaya for our late lunch which was a bit off peak hours and thus there was no queue for us 😃. I was spoilt for choice on the matcha dishes here, the wide varieties of food and beverage menu in Matchaya really made me contemplating for quite some time! Regardless, I was very excited to try them! 😍

After a thousand years later on flipping the menu front and back 😂, we have ordered items below:

1) Drink:

Matcha Chokoreto (SGD6.50)

  • Matcha and chocolate combination kind of drink for me! Both matcha and chocolate are my favourite. My 1st time trying this and to my surprise it is kinda good! The chocolate is not overpowering the matcha, and both of them blend well with each other. The matcha tasted nice also. I would say more matcha taste than chocolate for this. Overall nice drink for me to enjoy! 😍😜

Koffee Milk (SGD6.50)

  • Coffee with milk for my husband! He is not a matcha lover, but forced to accompany me to have meal here hahaha 😂 But fret not, there is coffee option in Matchaya too, and the quality is not bad! The layer of milk and coffee made an instagram worthy photo too! 😊

2) Main Course:

Osaka Fluffy Pancakes (SGD16.90)

  • Made of: Fluffy pancakes, homemade berries compote, matcha granola, seasonal fruits and berries, kuromitsu sauce, matcha sauce
  • This is definitely an instagrammable dish in Matchaya! There is a matcha sauce provided to you separately for you to pour onto the pancake yourself! 💚👍 I hope there are more matcha sauce, never get bored of this green stuff haha. The pancake is fluffy and filling, add on the sweet kuromitsu sauce and some sides such as granola and fruits, definitely a good choice. However, for my personal opinion the kuromitsu sauce is too sweet. I would prefer more bittersweet taste of matcha sauce than kuromitsu sauce for this dish.

Ohaiyo Breakfast Set (SGD17.90)

  • Made of: Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, chicken bockwurst, grilled herbs tomatoes, sauteed wild mushrooms, toasted multigrain sourdough
  • This breakfast set is delicious albeit small portion. Especially the mushrooms and toasted sourdough breads which I enjoy very much! The breads is toasted and it is super duper crispy, like the crispiest toasted breads that I have ever eaten! 😮 Frankly, I enjoy the taste of this breakfast set more than matcha pancake, although breakfast set is not instagrammable friendly hahaha 😆 Scrambled eggs are nicely cooked with cheese too and lift up the whole taste sensation.

3) Dessert:

Matcha Azuki Roll Cake (SGD6)

  • Made of: Matcha chantilly cream made with ceremonial grade uji matcha & azuki rolled in 100% activated charcoal sponge
  • This is their signature matcha cake for matcha lovers. Much like a swiss roll with matcha cream filling. The center of the cake is filled with azuki red beans. The typical dessert combination of matcha and red beans! 💖

Signature Matchaya Yuzu Cake (SGD10)

  • Made of: Our signature cake takes on a modern interpretation of a traditional flavour pairing in an edible way. Lught matcha and white chocolate mousse, layered with matcha sponge on a hazelnut meringue base, topped off with koichi yuzu jelly with a dash of madagascar vanilla bean. Bits of 24k gold leaf, bringing you prosperity.
  • This is definitely a must try! Although it is the priciest cake among the selections, however the taste is very unique. The top yuzu layer which is a little bit sour mixed well with bittersweet fragrant matcha cake and soft layer of white chocolate mousse melting in your mouth. I am definitely going back for this again in future! 💛

That's all for the sharing on Matchaya, The Cathay. The total damage for 2 people was ~SGD64. Nice matcha dining experience here, may drop by here to fix your matcha cravings while still cannot travel to Japan yet! I will revisit Matchaya again, love the nice dining experience here! 😎😁

iO Italian Osteria

FAQ on iO Italian Osteria:

1. What attracts you to come to this restaurant?
👉 As part of our 5 years dating anniversary celebration, we came to this highly reviewed cafe to try authentic Italian cuisines prepared by the real Italian chef.

2. What do you expect to dine in this restaurant?
👉 Authentic Italian cuisines with a wide varieties of appetizers, main courses, desserts and drinks. Several well raved items which receive high ratings such as traditional stuffed Roman Schiacciata, porchetta baked pork belly, and pistochio tiramisu cake.

3. What is the recommended time to dine in this restaurant?
👉 Anytime of the day, usually will be very packed during dinner. So would be better if you can come earlier for lunch instead. Remember make reservation via Chope to avoid disapointment.

We visited iO Italian Osteria on Saturday for lunch. We had made reservation one week before and able to secure a table for 2. I have read a lot of reviews online saying long waiting time even after booking done, but we were lucky enough to be seated directly 😃. It was a rainy Saturday noon, but it was almost full house for that day. Well I guess if it was a good sunny day, we would need to wait for table even if have made reservation too? iO is one of the 20 Italian restaurants in Singapore that has received "Ospitalita Italiana Gold Seal Award" due to the superb quality of food and service here! Excited to try out today! 😍

Menu

Restaurant casual environment

After get seated, we were served with hot/cold water. Then we glanced through the menu and contemplated on our food orders. After some time, we made up our mind and ordered items below:

1) Drink:

Cappuccino (SGD6)

  • Cappuccino coffee was smooth to drink, nice balance of bitter and sweet. We could taste the good coffee bean quality and not overly sweet.  For me, I guess I would prefer coffee to be more bitter!

Cioccolata (SGD6) 👍

  • Hot chocolate drink which was so nice, nice balance of bitter and sweet too. Especially the sweet here was due to the cocoa itself and not the sugar, I like this kind of authentic chocolate drink! Chocolate powder was spread on top of the drink too! There was a cream given to us to put inside the hot chocolate drink to make the texture more smooth to drink.

2) Traditional Stuffed Roman Schiacciata (SGD10 small, SGD18 large) 👍
  • In-house baked bread as an appetizer. Schiacciata means smashed in Italian language. This Italian flatbread received very good reviews online and thus we were excited to try this out, and almost all tables have ordered this too! The bread was blended well with cheese and truffle which was truly delicious to eat. The bread was crusty and felt like toasted to perfection, the texture was something in the middle of pizza and toasted bread, crusty yet chewy. Best part was the cheese and strong aroma of truffle which melted in your mouth with every bites. Certainly must try if you are here.
Small size here (4 portions)

3) Margherita Pizza (SGD9 small, SGD24 middle, SGD29 large)
  • Assorted handmade pizza for the day, such as bacon pizza, pizza with mushroom, margherita pizza and etcetera. I would love to try the pure margherita pizza here so I have placed order on this one. The pizza crust was so good chewy yet moisturized enough (not dry or hard), especially the bottom pizza skin crispy due to oven baked. The cheese was so much as you can see from the photo, to the point that it was a bit over "jelek" for me, super full after the pizza. Personal opinion maybe can skip this if you have ordered the traditional stuffed roman schiacciata.

Small size here (4 portions)

4) Mixed Grilled Fish and Seafood Platter (SGD26 medium, SGD50 large)
  • Grilled seafood platter which was not very big portion, with 1 prawn, 1 fish, 1 scallop, 2 squids and some vegetables. The dish was not bad, but compared to the seafood platter which we could find when we were traveling overseas, especially from those islands (Thailand/Indonesia), this dish was not very fresh and juicy as per expected. Personally we thought the seafood platter we had in Jimabaran beach @ Bali island was much nicer.

5) Dessert:
Pistachio Tiramisu (SGD14)
  • Well raved dessert with a lot of positive reviews from online. The mixture of pistachio and tiramisu made the cake flavour very nice, together with foamy cream which was smooth to eat. Personally we thought that this dessert was nice, but not as good as the lava cake below, as the tiramisu flavour was not as strong as expected.
Dark Chocolate Lava Cake, Espresso Ice Cream (SGD16) 👍
  • The lava cake was nice to eat, with the molten dark chocolate flowing inside your mouth. I would be happier if the chocolate was more concentrated and bitter though. Nonetheless, this dark chocolate lava cake was very delicious. Also, they had espresso ice cream served with the laka cake together. Surprisingly, this espresso ice cream was really thick and felt truly "espresso" for us!
Pistachio tiramisu

Dark chocolate lava cake with espresso ice cream

Two plates complement each other, just like soul mate,
what a sight to end our dating anniversary lunch

Super full

Sleepy rainy day

Celavi Skybar @ Marina Bay Sands Singapore

FAQ on Celavi Skybar MBS:

1. What attracts you to come to this restaurant?
👉 One of the bucket list which we should visit if we come to Singapore! Iconic sight of Marina Bay Sands is needless to explain further in this blog already. All of us will have this spectacular attraction comes into our mind whenever we talk about Singapore. How about dining on the 57th top floor of this high rise building? Only one factor ⇢ WOW! 😲

2. What you expect to dine in this restaurant?
👉 Just a lounge or skybar for us to chillax. So do expect only light tidbits such as fries, sushi roll (hmm quite surprising to see this in skybar menu?) and beverages such as juices, wines and etcetera.

3. Any set meal available in this restaurant?
👉 No, only have ala carte meal. The menu consists of only starters/ tidbits, juice/ champagne/ beers.

4. Any promotion available in internet for this restaurant?
👉 No, you have to pay full for this skybar dining experience. Worth to try out if you haven't do so. For Celavi skybar visitors, you have to pay for $20 each before entering the hotel lift to the skybar at level 57th, however good news is that you can use the $20 on foods and drinks at the skybar. There is another option for observatory visitors, you have to pay for $23 each and you do not get yourself any foods or drinks, but you get yourself the clear front view of Singapore from level 56th, similar with the hotel guests. Hotel guests get to enter the observatory for free, and of course the well instagrammable infinity pool.

5. What is the recommended time to dine in this restaurant?
👉 To us, both day and night time! Come here before sunset to enjoy the changing of Singapore city view from day to night time. You must come very early to secure the seats as we found it was super hard to get seating by the time we arrived at 5.30pm.

On a weekend date, we made our minds to visit this skybar which is located at level 57th of Marina Bay Sands Singapore. This also served as an early birthday celebration for my dearest partner in crime, my fiance! 💏 I guess everyone knows Singapore iconic buildings and Marina Bay Sands certainly tops the list. So, it is certainly very famous for tourists to flock there just to enjoy the spectacular night view of Singapore city. The boat shaped structure that well sitted on top of 3 big pillars of Marina Bay Sands, is the place where you can find Celavi skybar, restaurant, lounge and the most famous infinity pool! While the hotel itself is abit too expensive for us to stay, we compensate it by standing on the same level of hotel guests and get to enjoy the city view as well, not bad thou.. 😄

We ordered wine from the menu, and my eyes fixed at pink rose wine, the name is just so dreamy right! Pink and rose, certainly is captivating for girls. So we chose pink rose wine from France named Terres de Berne. Just because the name is so sophisticated and it is pink rose wine, so i will give it a like, even I am not a truly alcohol lover 😂. For snacks, we ordered bbq spiced french fries. This french fries is super delicious! The french fries are well spiced up and the portion is quite large, well worth it! 👍

We barely able to get ourselves seating and it was located in the skybar counter there. Skybar is just beside restaurant and for those diners in the restaurant, you get to sit ner the edge of boat structure and enjoy good view of Singapore if you spend minimum of $300! For skybar, is just cramping here and there, so is very tourisy and not as romantic feeling as what I thought off.

We ended the night with fireworks display! In conjunction with Singapore's National Day, there are few sessions of fireworks preview held on every Saturday (may refer to Google for more details). We are so lucky that we get to dine in this skybar with free fireworks show that lasts for about 5 minutes or more? To be able to view fireworks from this high rise building, it's feeling good! So for those living or visiting Singapore soon, why not drop by Celavi skybar on Saturday night and create a memorable night date for you and your beloved! 😍 Guess this preview will last throughout the whole month of July.

For those interested to go here, may refer to the official website listed below. They have restaurant, skybar and lounge options available to choose from. For skybar, there is no reservation required, just walk in will do. However, for restaurant it is recommended to get reservation done. For lounge, is just located beside infinity pool and we only get to see this at the end of the day when we walked on the way back. Personally, we think lounge is a better way to relax as it is less crowded and it has few sofa which located at the edge of the boat shaped structure, unlike skybar which is crowded and not very clear view of Singapore's skyline. For those ladies which would like to have happy hours on beers, can consider to visit on Wednesday, as it is ladies night on Wednesday and you get some discounted drinks! May check website for more details. Till then, feast the eyes with some photos below.

Marina Bay Sands Singapore! The boat shaped on top of 3 pillars, skybar spotted!

Observatory located at level 56th. Admission fees: $23.
Pros: Front view of Singapore city.
Cons: ONLY front view of Singapore city (note: money spent is not redeemable on F&B)

Wefie time, US on top on MBS Singapore! 😎

Just like the hues of sky. If only the place is not so crowded,
it would be a romantic dating place!
