House of Seafood @ Punggol Settlement Singapore

FAQ on House of Seafood Punggol Singapore:

1. What attracts you to come to this restaurant?
👉 Temptation for seafood and chinese food delicacies. WHO can say NO to seafood! And especially when I grow older, I favour chinese delicacies more, rather than western foods.. Oh, aging.. Haha xD

2. What you expect to dine in this restaurant?
👉 Of course is the well known seafood! Voted the best pepper crab in Singapore. They have this 7 tower tall of seafood as well, the price tag is definitely not cheap..

3. Any set meal available in this restaurant?
👉 No, only have ala carte meal, just like the usual chinese restaurant.

4. Any promotion available in internet for this restaurant?
👉 YES! Good news for those who want to save tiny bits of money. I bought my voucher online at Fave. Scroll down to see the voucher which I have snapped previously!

5. What is the recommended time to dine in this restaurant?
👉 To us, both day and night time would be equally same, except the restaurant gets more crowded especially on weekends and at night. We dined in earlier that time at 6.30pm and slowly the restaurant becomes full house one hour later! There are folks queuing outside for seating as well.. Mind that, outdoor seating are quite hot around noon time.. We chose indoor seating as it is well air conditioned.

On a particular weekend, we planned to visit this new island in Singapore which we have yet to explore. It is Coney Island! A small island fulls of greenery and would be a good place to unwind before another hectic working week ahead. Coney Island is just adjacent to Punggol Settlement, a place which has quite a number of restaurants for you to choose from, ranging from chinese, thai, western, and etcetera. Many families and kids come here especially during weekend, to hang around the playground, cycling around, or just enjoying the sea breeze.

We had previously bought ourselves this cash voucher online and would like to give it a try! It is House of Seafood! Walked passed this previously but always have the feeling that this restaurant is way too expensive and something like will 'chop' the tourist? Haha. So it becomes a dream comes true when saw that we able to get 50% discount if we purchased online voucher by using Fave Singapore. Surprisingly, now they still have this promotion! So if you are interested, why not give it a try? Link here to direct yourself to House of Seafood cash vouchers: Fave! They have promotions of paying $50 for $100 cash voucher, and also $99 for $200 cash voucher! Really, it is 50% savings in your wallet! Parents day are coming! And it would be a great treat to your dad and mum! Who says we can't enjoy good foods at a cheap price! 😋

Fave Singapore cash voucher promotion!! Awesome! Anyone says yes here? 😈

The menu of House of Seafood is extensive. Even the way of cooking crabs also varies, ranging from chilli, black pepper (famous!), steamed, salted egg yolk (famous!), golden creamy butter, sweet and sour, and etcetera. When we passed by several tables, we can see both black pepper and salted egg yolk crabs are the most popular there. We ordered chilli crab, as I have never try chilli crab in Singapore. If you have stayed with my blog, will aware that I have tried curry crab in Singapore, in this good chinese restaurant called No. 3 Crab Delicacy I like to have fried bun (so called "mantao" in chinese) to dip into the sauce of curry or chilli. When you bite onto the fried bun, it is crispy in the outside and the curry or chilli sauced dipped will burst into your mouth like a splash, especially the curry sauce version! 😍

If you wonder on the menu of House of Seafood, may refer to link here before visiting, to check out if the dishes over there suit your taste bud or not. So let's see what we ordered for the dinner.

Yam ring! Crispy fried skin with yam filling inside, together with assorted
vegetables, prawns and nuts. Not to forget the side crispy dishes
surrounding the yam ring as well!
Price: $22 for one plate

Definitely must try special in this restaurant as they are famous for crabs!
Chilli crab as above, with the gravy filled with eggs and chilli flakes.
It is not spicy as thought. The taste is more to like tomato sauce topped with eggs?
Personal opinion, curry crab in No. 3 Crab Delicacy tasted better.
Price: $58.50 for 900g crab

6 pieces of fried mantou, for you to dip into chilli sauce!
Must order when you eat crab in Singapore. I like the crispy texure of fried mantou and
they are able to "suck" in the curry or chilli gravy into the mantou themselves,
so when you eat, the gravy sauce will burst into your mouth!
Price: $4.80 for 6 pieces

So that's the dinner for 2 of us. We have also tried their crackers, and appetizers (marinated sour fruits).

For 2 of us, we ordered chilli crab ($58.50), fried mantou ($4.80), yam ring ($22), crackers ($2), appetizers ($2), two white rice ($2) and hot tea ($2). The total bill incurred is ~ $110 inclusive of taxes. With the Fave cash voucher of $100, we need to top up an additional  $10. Hence, the total amount of money we spent by using the cash voucher and excess amount top up becomes $60. So, a luxurious seafood dinner for 2 pax at a total of $60 in Singapore top notch seafood restaurant, who are NOT tempted with this deal?! I still remembered last time we tried in No.3 Crab Delicacies, 2 of us spent ~$100 for crab and vegetable dish, even the crab alone already $60!

No. 3 Crab Delicacy @ Tiong Bahru Singapore

Time to taste the famous crab in Singapore! We always hear that Singapore is famous for chilli crab and we have done some research on the crab shops in Singapore. Crab, crab, we are coming! We found No. 3 Crab Delicacy over website to be one of the restaurant that offers nice crab dishes and comes with a charge which is not sky high. There are a number of chinese seafood restaurants nearby when we alighted from the bus, and all of them are quite occupied as well.

Our aim was to eat chilli crab initially, but when we flipped the menu, we were truly spoilt for choice. There are a few crab dishes such as curry crab, chill crab, black pepper crab, butter crab, salted egg crab, steamed crab, crab with beehun etcetera. Not only that, there are prawns, chickens, fishes, and lots more, just like typical chinese restaurant but with more choices on how they prepare and cook the crab for connoisseurs.

We ordered curry crab at last as we not very fond of salty dishes and was informed by the owner of the restaurant that the recommended crab dish would be curry crab. On top of that, he mentioned that the curry crab served in the restaurant is well known to be the No.1 in Singapore! Not No.3 as the name of the shop 😂. You can order fried small bun (called "mantou" in chinese") for you to dip into the curry or chilli crab sauce and tug in. It was very delicious as the bun is getting soaked with the curry soup and when you bite it, it will start with a crunchy texture outside and followed by curry soup which "explodes" inside your mouth 😋.

The curry crab was served inside a claypot bowl. It is sufficient for 2 of us to eat, and the crab meat is succulent and juicy. It weighted nearly 1kg and the crab alone already priced at $63. They quoted the price based on the weight of the crab, with 100g at $6.50. It is truly not cheap, however just a reward to ourselves for working hard 😄. The claypot came with vegetables such as lady fingers and eggplants. The curry soup was very alike with curry fish soup. We felt like we were eating curry fish claypot, except fish was substituted by crab. The coconut milk smell inside the curry soup is quite strong as well. The curry soup is not at the truly spicy side, so I guess is quite suitable for everyone. Personally I feel the curry crab dish is generally nice, but the price is a bit at the high side. We ordered fried kangkung vegetables also as a side dish for us.

The No.1 curry crab in Singapore @ No.3 Crab Delicacy restaurant!

Fried kangkung vegetables

Bring home the taste of No.3 Crab Delicacy! Those who fond of the paste can opt to buy their curry paste, sambal belacan and black pepper for cooking at home. The restaurant is full house on the weekend and there are even large group of parties dining inside the restaurant. If you don't want to miss out the chance to taste the crab dishes in this restaurant, remember to call them for booking! The restaurant is located inside a hotel called Link Hotel, and thus can see many groups of foreigners have their dinner over there.

Our total bill came at a cost of ~$95 for two of us. It is certainly an expensive dinner, however it would be a treat for us once in a blue moon. From the receipt below, you can see they striked through towel row, as we were aware that they charged for the towel and we already returned the towel to them before starting of our meals. Can't save us much, only $1 but every penny counts right. Well, spent $95 already but commented on $1 towel, haha 😒

The restaurant was crowded and full house that day. It was located inside Link Hotel and well air-conditioned.
