Bakalaki Greek Taverna @ Tiong Bahru Singapore

Welcome 2018 with this amazing greek cuisine dining in Singapore! The restaurant is decorated prettily and well lit and captured my attention as it is blue and white for the interior design! Well, what blue and white mean to you? It means Greece for me! Since Greece is still a bit far from grip now, let me have a sweet appetizer first before I meet you in person! I will be there and I promise it, Greece, one of the top country that I would like to travel to! 💓💓

I ran across this restaurant during my visit to Tiong Bahru for crab delicacies! Do visit my blog here for the crab delicacies. So I was aiming for crab dishes in Singapore back then that's why went to Tiong Bahru. If you have seen the post, you will know that I am craving for crab chinese delicacies that time and I have satisfied my hunger over there! While I walk around the vicinity of the No.3 Crab Delicacy restaurant, I came across this Greek restaurant called Bakalaki Greek Taverna. I told myself that I will come back to this restaurant in some days. Truly glad that we made it in one of the beautiful weekend of 2018! It has the feeling like dream comes true anyway, haha. So I was super excited that day, just like a small kid! 😁

This restaurant is opened from July 2017 and hence is a new restaurant. Thus, please remember to book this restaurant before hand or if you have forgotten to do so, do walk in early. Like us, we walked in around 6pm and not long after the restaurant already full house. Strongly recommend folks to book here, especially if you have big parties for meals that day! We were welcomed by the handsome Greece boss, which I believe is the owner of this restaurant. Then were then welcomed to be seated in the bar area as the big tables are all fully reserved or seated. There are many waiter and waitress in this restaurant and the bartenders are also fully trained. They are professional by the way they shaked and prepared the drinks for you! And they are friendly too!

So when you are blown away with the interior design of the restaurant, you will be blown away with a great varieties of food choices too when you take a look at the menu. And, so do the price.. It is above average and in our opinion, is more to expensive ranking. However, Bakalaki has secured Tripadvisor rating as no.2 here! It is rated as no. 2 restaurant among a total of 9686 restaurants in Singapore during the time we visited in January 2018! The interior design of the restaurant also costs more than million dollars as it is specially designed and well detailed!

What we have for the dinner over here? We ordered fetasaganaki cheese as appetizer/ dessert, grilled prawn and chicken with pita breads as main course, and lastly Greek yogurt as dessert! Oh can't forget also we will get complimentary breads while waiting for our foods to arrive, so you won't be so hungry, nice and warm touch! See below for foods photos.

Complimentary breads! The breads here is baked hard and crunchy, with sea salts on top and sprinkled with herbs.

Fetasaganaki cheese. You can see the texture inside is very dense and it is very very cheesy till it smells a bit goat at the end? Personally we not really know to admire this dish, but the honey and sesame are nice thou.

Grilled prawn with assorted vegetables. You can only one grilled prawn here plus one slice of lemon for you to squeeze lemon juice on top. You will get a plate of carrots, potatoes and cucumbers as vegetables as well. The portion is small, however the grilled prawn is quite nice, or maybe it is because too little? 😂

Chicken with pita breads and french fries, together with lemon and tartar juice. The portion is better. Pita breads are like pizza hard tossed skin and you can eat it together with the grilled chicken. Taste wise is not bad as well.

Greek yogurt as a nice finishing touch to this Greek cuisine! It has the same type of honey used with fetasaganaki cheese. You can find walnuts here as well! The yogurt is quite nice when mixed with the thick honey as well. Personally we prefer this over fetasaganaki dish.

Wefie to cheers for our Mediterranean Greek Dinner!

Exterior building of restaurant, facing roadside and situated at the corner.

They even have donkey here for you to take photos! The main mode of transportation in Greece yeah.

Visit here for a try on Meditteranean Greek cuisine in Singapore! It is certainly an unforgettable dining experience. This restaurant is prettily decorated and ambience is good for family, friends and lovers out there! Certainly, it is quite romantic however because it is heavily packed with diners and quite noisy, hence the romantic feeling is a bit gone. However, you get yourselves nice Greece musics and songs played inside the restaurant and temporarily immerse yourselves in Greece feeling and certainly it is insta-worthy as it boasts a super high ranking in Tripadvisor as well! Recommend to visit here to try out the dish and just enjoy the environment together with your loves one!

Cameron Highlands @ Pahang Malaysia

It has been about quite some time since we visited this little gem in Malaysia. Famous among locals and foreigners who specially fall in love with the greenery here, let me bring you together when we step back and reconcile Cameron Highlands' memories.

Short getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and here we landed at Cameron Highlands. It was a short 2D1N trip. However, we have pretty much covered the famous or to-do-list in Cameron Highlands. What's the must visit attractions in here? There are many attraction such as tea farm, bee farm, rose farm, cactus farm, strawberry farm, night market, and the list goes on and on. And not to forget, the must food to eat is steamboat in the cold weather! Let's see where we have visited in these two days.

 BOH tea plantation @ Brinchang
 Lavender garden @ Brinchang
 Brinchang night market
 Steamboat lunch
Bharat tea plantation @ Tanah Rata
 The Lakehouse Hotel @ Ringlet

We started off our journey from Brinchang and stayed one night at guesthouse nearby Brinchang. The following day, we continued our journey to drive on to Tanah Rata and finally reach Ringlet before heading back home. We went to two tea plantations over these two days and we personally love Bharat tea plantation very much. Let's follow my journey below~

1. BOH tea plantation @ Brinchang
A quick stopover on the way to Lavender Garden at Brinchang. It is in the vicinity of Lavender Garden. It is not that tourisy, as the tea plantation here is smaller in scale. However, it also has a coffee shop for us to rest and recharge after a long drive journey. Over there you can see ATV rental service as well. The day was so hot and sunny, that we can't take it and used umbrella to protect us. Amazingly, the umbrella photo turned out to be quite smooth with greenaries backdrop.

Something like "Is somebody stealthily took our photos from behind?"

2. Lavender garden @ Brinchang
The lavender garden is a must visit place in Cameron Highlands as well, however the lavender farm is not really big. However, you can buy a lot of lavender stuffs over here such as shampoo, bath gel, fragrance, pillow, etcetera. Come here if you are a lavender lover. You can taste lavender ice cream over here as well! And they have quite a number of cute spots for you to pose at.

Vintage car just beside lavender garden

Pretty photo spot! Feeling like Taiwan?

Must thing to do here! Buy lavender ice cream!

The flowers here are very nice and refreshing!

Do you want to evolve and become a butterfly? Yes please..
Then please queue over there. 😄😓

Nice swing for photoshooting in the midst of small flower beds

Many cute and fun lavender stuffs inside for souvenirs!

3. Bharat tea plantation @ Tanah Rata
Bharat tea plantation is really massive and you can lost yourself when taking photos with the superb greenary. It is like an infinity feeling of tea plantation and you will be like in a green maze. Even though it is peak season, this place not seem to be crowded as the tea plantation is way too massive. You can easily find the place for you to take photos with almost no crowds behind! It was only green, green behind and only you in front! Definitely recommend here when you come to Tanah Rata!

Magnificient panaromic view!

Something like shooting inside drama? 👫😊

Must try this famous pose in the green maze here! Follow me to getting lost here..😏

4. The Lakehouse Hotel @ Ringlet
Last but not least is the Lakehouse Hotel, a 4-star hotel famous in Cameron Highlands. You can have teatime in this hotel as the restaurant is truly elegant and relaxing. We dropped by this hotel on the way back home, to take few photos with this beautiful hotel. Some areas are restricted and since we are outside visitors, there are limited places that we can take photos with.

Pretty British style hotel that captured our attention so much!

Pretty vintage feel hotel with layers of green terrace

Christmas decoration in the little living room on the way to hotel's restaurant

The feeling here is so amazing and pretty!💑

That's the end of our short getaway to Cameron Highlands! Remember this place is famous among locals especially during holiday season, so do expect traffic jam and nice rooms being sold out at a faster rate. Do come here to enjoy the cold breeze when you feel you are super hot! 😅💗

Mon Bijou @ Orchard Road Singapore

One day before New Year Eve, we had our French dinner at Orchard Road. We booked this French restaurant through Eatigo  mobile apps. This apps is really user friendly and most importantly, we can grab many good (by this means- cheaper 😂) deals in some decent restaurants which we have yet to explore at Singapore. Whenever we feel want to eat some nice foods and want to save bucks and really out of ideas what to eat, we will search through this apps. Is like a dating apps for us too, haha. Done promoting this useful apps for us. Let's go to the restaurant of the day - Mon Bijou. The elegant restaurant name sounds it all, a French dining in Claymore Connect, a small mall in the vicinity of the Orchard Road. It is connected to Orchard Hotel Singapore as well. So occasionally, we able to see foreigners passed by this restaurant as well. After the dinner, we can walk to Orchard Hotel Singapore to have a short spree to enjoy the beautiful Christmas decoration in the hotel also.

For the dinner, I got myself Out of the Blue (literally the receipt written fish and chips, that explains why the sophisticated menu name is so important, as that sounds mysterious and elegant, but the truth is written in receipt because it is fish and chips..😒). My bf ordered chicken parmo (chicken topped with cheese and some herbs, together with truffle chips). The truffle chips sounds sophisticated and expensive. It is quite nice however a bit salty for us. The foods here are well presented and certainly flavourful, just the downside is a bit salty for our personal opinion. However, the menu is certainly attractive and many people come here for the dessert also. This restaurant scores 4/5 at tripadvisor, and there is a board in front of the restaurant mentioned best cafe in town. To judge from the good rating, it may be a good choice to try, especially we enjoyed the deal at 30% off as we booked through Eatigo apps.

Out of the Blue - Crispy halibut, served with spicy tartar sauce and truffle fries!

Chicken Parmo - Cheesy chicken, served with salads and truffle fries!

For both of us, the dinner comes at a total cost of $50, however after 30% discount, it becomes $35. It is quite a steal right 😄. One more thing to mention, this restaurant also has free seatings for us, and we got ourselves seated on tall chairs, and it is comfortable. It feels good to dine good foods in a great ambiance cafe.

Jumping Jack @ Compass One Sengkang Singapore

We stumbled upon this restaurant at the top floor of the Compass One shopping mall on a random Friday night for dinner. The restaurant is quite packed with visitors and the price is also reasonable. We figured out why not give it a try on this new restaurant on our eating list 😋. The restaurant has wall decoration of London buses and additionally has the Christmas decoration and cute props at the restaurant entrance for diners to have fun with. Delicious food checked, pretty decorations checked, fun props for photos checked!

The menu selection in Jumping Jack restaurant is quite extensive and it's all about western foods. As usual, I would like to try the crispy breaded fish and chips (price: $12.90) and my bf ordered grill boneless chicken with tiger shrimp (price: $13.90). I think the photos do the talking. Not only the foods here are well presented, surprisingly the foods are savory delicious. It is fingers licking good and not a burn a hole in the wallet as well! Happy dinner, happy mood, happy Friday night! 😍

Crispy breaded fish with lemon, served with criss-cross fries and salads
Another plus on the fries here is that you able to choose the choices for your fries, my bf chose cheesy fries and for me, i chose criss-cross fries. Both also amazing, however cheesy fries are to our liking the most. Needless to say, the main course served here is truly delicious and that explains why there are a lot of diners here. The environment is conducive for chit-chatting among families and friends too. We able to get a seating at the end of the corner which has long seating and London's pillow on the seat for us to hold and take photos with. We enjoyed our dinner till around 10pm and the waitress there are kind enough to take photos of us with the king and queen crowns, like the first photo above! There are a few cute props freely available for us to take photos. When you have nice place to take photos, you can also promote the restaurants among your friends' circle. Guess how much for our dinner? It is $32 for two of us, inclusive of 17% tax. Delicious dinner in British style restaurant, it is worth the price paid for.
