Mon Bijou @ Orchard Road Singapore

One day before New Year Eve, we had our French dinner at Orchard Road. We booked this French restaurant through Eatigo  mobile apps. This apps is really user friendly and most importantly, we can grab many good (by this means- cheaper 😂) deals in some decent restaurants which we have yet to explore at Singapore. Whenever we feel want to eat some nice foods and want to save bucks and really out of ideas what to eat, we will search through this apps. Is like a dating apps for us too, haha. Done promoting this useful apps for us. Let's go to the restaurant of the day - Mon Bijou. The elegant restaurant name sounds it all, a French dining in Claymore Connect, a small mall in the vicinity of the Orchard Road. It is connected to Orchard Hotel Singapore as well. So occasionally, we able to see foreigners passed by this restaurant as well. After the dinner, we can walk to Orchard Hotel Singapore to have a short spree to enjoy the beautiful Christmas decoration in the hotel also.

For the dinner, I got myself Out of the Blue (literally the receipt written fish and chips, that explains why the sophisticated menu name is so important, as that sounds mysterious and elegant, but the truth is written in receipt because it is fish and chips..😒). My bf ordered chicken parmo (chicken topped with cheese and some herbs, together with truffle chips). The truffle chips sounds sophisticated and expensive. It is quite nice however a bit salty for us. The foods here are well presented and certainly flavourful, just the downside is a bit salty for our personal opinion. However, the menu is certainly attractive and many people come here for the dessert also. This restaurant scores 4/5 at tripadvisor, and there is a board in front of the restaurant mentioned best cafe in town. To judge from the good rating, it may be a good choice to try, especially we enjoyed the deal at 30% off as we booked through Eatigo apps.

Out of the Blue - Crispy halibut, served with spicy tartar sauce and truffle fries!

Chicken Parmo - Cheesy chicken, served with salads and truffle fries!

For both of us, the dinner comes at a total cost of $50, however after 30% discount, it becomes $35. It is quite a steal right 😄. One more thing to mention, this restaurant also has free seatings for us, and we got ourselves seated on tall chairs, and it is comfortable. It feels good to dine good foods in a great ambiance cafe.

Jumping Jack @ Compass One Sengkang Singapore

We stumbled upon this restaurant at the top floor of the Compass One shopping mall on a random Friday night for dinner. The restaurant is quite packed with visitors and the price is also reasonable. We figured out why not give it a try on this new restaurant on our eating list 😋. The restaurant has wall decoration of London buses and additionally has the Christmas decoration and cute props at the restaurant entrance for diners to have fun with. Delicious food checked, pretty decorations checked, fun props for photos checked!

The menu selection in Jumping Jack restaurant is quite extensive and it's all about western foods. As usual, I would like to try the crispy breaded fish and chips (price: $12.90) and my bf ordered grill boneless chicken with tiger shrimp (price: $13.90). I think the photos do the talking. Not only the foods here are well presented, surprisingly the foods are savory delicious. It is fingers licking good and not a burn a hole in the wallet as well! Happy dinner, happy mood, happy Friday night! 😍

Crispy breaded fish with lemon, served with criss-cross fries and salads
Another plus on the fries here is that you able to choose the choices for your fries, my bf chose cheesy fries and for me, i chose criss-cross fries. Both also amazing, however cheesy fries are to our liking the most. Needless to say, the main course served here is truly delicious and that explains why there are a lot of diners here. The environment is conducive for chit-chatting among families and friends too. We able to get a seating at the end of the corner which has long seating and London's pillow on the seat for us to hold and take photos with. We enjoyed our dinner till around 10pm and the waitress there are kind enough to take photos of us with the king and queen crowns, like the first photo above! There are a few cute props freely available for us to take photos. When you have nice place to take photos, you can also promote the restaurants among your friends' circle. Guess how much for our dinner? It is $32 for two of us, inclusive of 17% tax. Delicious dinner in British style restaurant, it is worth the price paid for.

Gelare @ Compass One Sengkang Singapore

TGIF! Let's treat ourselves a good meal to end the hectic working week. We saw a random Mix and Match Christmas promotion from Gelare shop in Compass One shopping mall, and figured out why not! The banner mentioned that it costs you only $12.90 for a set meal which consists of pasta, one side dish to choose from and one hot/cold beverage. The side dish options are quite tempting as they have fried onion rings, curly fries, half classic waffle, popcorn chicken, and mushroom soup. As for the beverage, they have iced lemon tea, iced coffee (i.e. latte, cappucino, etcetera) and hot tea (i.e. peach and passionfruit, strawberry and mango, etcetera). Let the banner does the talking here. With a 2 course dinner plus a drink, it is certainly worth to spend for! Is mentioned over there that it saves us more than 40% too as the meal is up to $24 for one pax!

As it is Friday night, there are many people having their dinner in this small restaurant. Gelare is famous for it's ice cream and many diners had their ice cream together with waffle here as well. I have not try the Gelare ice cream before, but judging from the amount of diners crowding here for ice cream desserts, it seems like the ice cream is quite tasty. Perhaps I will come back again some other time. So, let's see what we have for our dinner here.

Ice Lemon Tea

Hot Tea - Peach & Passionfruit Flavour

Curly Fries with Cheese Topping!

Half Classic Waffle with Chocolate Sauce Topping!

Bacon Pasta

For beverage, I opted for peach and passionfruit  flavour hot tea. They gave a sachet of tea bag and one hot water pot for you to refill. The tea smells so nice and is light scented. It is so nice to end the heavy meal with a light hot tea and it feels so "Winter Warmers" style. Winter Warmers is my favourite English style restaurant in Malaysia and they serve good quality of teas for you to enjoy, together with a romantic and tranquil seating environment. For the main course, we can only take Bacon Pasta in this promotional course. The pasta is not very salty, and it is topped with creamy mushroom sauce on top. However, the pasta amount is not very big. Since we have side dish to enjoy, so the meal is fulfilling as well. The side dishes of curly fries and half chocolate waffle are very nice. They have a generous cup of cheese sauce topping provided for you to dip the curly fries inside and we can't even finish the cheese sauce topping. The curly fries reminds me of the one we have in McDonalds every year when nearby Chinese New Year festive season, except that Gelare gives you a "Nancho-like" cheese which is a plus! For the half chocolate waffle is to my personal liking as it is like a sweet dessert to end your dinner meal. The waffle smells nice after baked and when top with my favourite chocolate sauce, it becomes even better! The price of full classic waffle costs about $9.60, and you have top up handpicked ice cream scoop onto waffle as well with an additional charge. The dessert here is tasty and that explains why many diners come here for desserts.

Whole table of foods

The whole table of meal costs a total bill of ~$28 for two of us. It is certainly a nice place to have dinner and chit-chat with your friends. And the price is worthy especially this Mix and Match Christmas set meal! And let me share with you one more deal here, for every Tuesday they are having promotion of all regular waffles at only half price, which means 50% discounts! I will come back here again! Say hello to December, say hello to Christmas and New Year! 👄💘

Christmas Village @ Ngee Ann City Singapore

From the previous Pastamania blog, I have shared the Christmas event that is going to happen in Orchard Road. And we have made it becomes real by paying a visit to Orchard Road again, specially for the Christmas event! It is the first ever European-theme Christmas village in Orchard Road Singapore and thus draws a lot visitors on weekend over there for fun.

The Christmas village is located at Ngee Ann City's Civic Plaza from 25 November 2017 to 25 December 2017. For this one month, you able to spend some free time hanging around there at night, and what can you get? Stalls that are lighted up the night, serving you hot foods and drinks such as Toast Box, Starbucks, Fish & Co's, Kebab etc. Apart from this, there is a performance stage to keep you entertained when you are having your dinner here. When we went that time, there were many students from different primary schools dressed up and sang Christmas choirs on the stage. And most importantly, there is one house that has long queue be it children or adults, and inside the house is our childhood favourite character- Santa Claus! (*Santa Claus is coming to town, and sitting in house waiting for wefie together~~ 😍). We even get ourselves free instax photo from the in-house-crew there! 1st instax checked!

Christmas village is just outside of Ngee Ann City's Civic Plaza and that also explains why the plaza also quite crowded inside. Especially one hot spot is the Tiffany&Co christmas tree. At here, you can queue and take photos together with the christmas tree backdrop. The crew will send the photos to your email address and you can download it and then upload to your instagram! Once shared in your instagram, just drop by Tiffany&Co shop to claim a free instax photo as well! 2nd instax checked!

When you walk along the Orchard Road, you will reach Ion Orchard at the end. Ion Orchard has pretty decoration in this year and is certainly eye-catching, especially the so called "Polar Express" train that will bring you to North Pole to find Santa Claus. Here, it is called the Ion Orchard Express and it is just 5 minutes away from Christmas village which houses Santa Claus, so is a little bit similar, haha.😂😁

Smile! Because it is December 😀

South East Asia (S.E.A) Aquarium @ Singapore

It was a usual Saturday for us and we have bought S.E.A Aquarium vouchers few months ago and figured out that it would be the time to use the voucher before they are expired.😄 So it became the 1st time for us to visit Sentosa island as well. For those that not realize it, S.E.A Aquarium is situated inside the Sentosa Island which houses few tourists attractions such as the famous Universal Studio Singapore, Madame Tussauds Singapore, Adventure Cove Waterpark, Trick Eye Museum Singapore and the list goes on. You may refer here (Sentosa Attractions) for the complete attractions in Sentosa Island. You can filter the attractions according to your individual preference, be it nature, thrilling adventure, leisure day, and family outing.

Our 1st attraction that we paid a visit in Sentosa Island was S.E.A Aquarium. It is known as one of the world’s largest aquariums and has a fancy ocean dining restaurant inside. There is even a luxury hotel connected to the aquarium also and you can find yourself sleeping in a room with thousands of marine life. Refer here (Sea Aquarium) for the interesting facts that you would like to know about S.E.A Aquarium.

Before heading to the aquarium, we have done some research on the showtime (Show Schedule) and have a glance on the map as below. Then, we just went ahead to plan arrival time and route to walk around the aquarium.

We arrived the aquarium before 2pm for the Shipwreck show. It is located just at the entrance of the aquarium. There are divers who swim into the tank filled with fishes and manta rays for the feeding show. The divers show us how to feed the manta rays and schools of fishes and it lasts about 15-20 minutes. All of us expressed Wow when we saw the manta rays ate the dead fish foods provided by the divers. Certainly the manta rays grabbed most of viewers' attention. And, shy to mention that, certainly this particular manta ray loves me..

The Manta Ray that loves me 😍. Thanks for loving me..
However, i am attached already, not sure how about you?
I know you are cute and innocent looking, but your sharp tail is scary thou..

As you walk through the aquarium, you get to immerse into different marine life world. Some marine life are really unique to be seen. It is knowledgeable tour to bring kids around and spend few hours inside to have some fun family time.

Seems like fake sharks portraying inside the aquarium tank.. But they are real and watching you..

Corals, sea cucumbers, fishes in the tank

Orange and white zebra stripe fish?

I am sea star! Star of the water world.. You get to touch real sea star in an area called Touch Pool,
somewhere at the corner of aquarium.

Mushroom like jelly fishes. Colorful and dreamy..

Puffer fish with big eyes..

Sea dragon somewhere can be found in Australia. Captured many people attention.
Looks like seahorse but has wing on the body, which makes it sea dragon! Wonder if they can fly..

Leopard skin fish?

There are a lot more things to explore inside the S.E.A aquarium. You can also pay to have live interaction with dolphin as well. Overall I think is a nice weekend place to go to. However, I have been to Langkawi aquarium at Malaysia and personally feel that aquarium is larger in scale. However, good things about S.E.A aquarium is it is adjacent to Universal Studio Singapore and other famous attractions in Sentosa Island. Just outside S.E.A aquarium is cruise ship available for you to enjoy. You can sit their sunset cruise which includes dinner as well to end your day with your loves one. When you walk further abit, you will reach Adventure Cove waterpark already.

No. 3 Crab Delicacy @ Tiong Bahru Singapore

Time to taste the famous crab in Singapore! We always hear that Singapore is famous for chilli crab and we have done some research on the crab shops in Singapore. Crab, crab, we are coming! We found No. 3 Crab Delicacy over website to be one of the restaurant that offers nice crab dishes and comes with a charge which is not sky high. There are a number of chinese seafood restaurants nearby when we alighted from the bus, and all of them are quite occupied as well.

Our aim was to eat chilli crab initially, but when we flipped the menu, we were truly spoilt for choice. There are a few crab dishes such as curry crab, chill crab, black pepper crab, butter crab, salted egg crab, steamed crab, crab with beehun etcetera. Not only that, there are prawns, chickens, fishes, and lots more, just like typical chinese restaurant but with more choices on how they prepare and cook the crab for connoisseurs.

We ordered curry crab at last as we not very fond of salty dishes and was informed by the owner of the restaurant that the recommended crab dish would be curry crab. On top of that, he mentioned that the curry crab served in the restaurant is well known to be the No.1 in Singapore! Not No.3 as the name of the shop 😂. You can order fried small bun (called "mantou" in chinese") for you to dip into the curry or chilli crab sauce and tug in. It was very delicious as the bun is getting soaked with the curry soup and when you bite it, it will start with a crunchy texture outside and followed by curry soup which "explodes" inside your mouth 😋.

The curry crab was served inside a claypot bowl. It is sufficient for 2 of us to eat, and the crab meat is succulent and juicy. It weighted nearly 1kg and the crab alone already priced at $63. They quoted the price based on the weight of the crab, with 100g at $6.50. It is truly not cheap, however just a reward to ourselves for working hard 😄. The claypot came with vegetables such as lady fingers and eggplants. The curry soup was very alike with curry fish soup. We felt like we were eating curry fish claypot, except fish was substituted by crab. The coconut milk smell inside the curry soup is quite strong as well. The curry soup is not at the truly spicy side, so I guess is quite suitable for everyone. Personally I feel the curry crab dish is generally nice, but the price is a bit at the high side. We ordered fried kangkung vegetables also as a side dish for us.

The No.1 curry crab in Singapore @ No.3 Crab Delicacy restaurant!

Fried kangkung vegetables

Bring home the taste of No.3 Crab Delicacy! Those who fond of the paste can opt to buy their curry paste, sambal belacan and black pepper for cooking at home. The restaurant is full house on the weekend and there are even large group of parties dining inside the restaurant. If you don't want to miss out the chance to taste the crab dishes in this restaurant, remember to call them for booking! The restaurant is located inside a hotel called Link Hotel, and thus can see many groups of foreigners have their dinner over there.

Our total bill came at a cost of ~$95 for two of us. It is certainly an expensive dinner, however it would be a treat for us once in a blue moon. From the receipt below, you can see they striked through towel row, as we were aware that they charged for the towel and we already returned the towel to them before starting of our meals. Can't save us much, only $1 but every penny counts right. Well, spent $95 already but commented on $1 towel, haha 😒

The restaurant was crowded and full house that day. It was located inside Link Hotel and well air-conditioned.
