Royal Caribbean Cruise Singapore - Quantum of The Seas, Cruise to Nowhere (Day 2)

Good morning, it is our 2nd day in Quantum of the Seas for this 5d4n holidays. Today is actually the 1st full day that we can spend on board the cruise. Our 1st activity for today is head to Deck 15 (outdoor open area deck) for the FlowRider. The weather is super hot and sunny and we get sunburn today, as we not expect the queue to FlowRider is very long 😨(although the cruise is operating at only 50% capacity during our cruise). Apart from FlowRider activity in the morning, we have reserved Xbox game in the afternoon, and catch a late night movie at night. And Of course, can't miss out my most favorite activity in the cruise which is jacuzzi pampering time 😍! FlowRider


Venue: Deck 15
Booking Method: not applicable, only can walk in and queue



In Deck 15 of Quantum of the Seas, there is FlowRider activity available for you to experience. It is a surfing simulator activity which is complimentary for all passengers to try for about 3 minutes. There are 2 instructors on-site to brief you how to surf using the boogie board. If you need a private lesson which teaches you on professional surfing, then you can pay at a cost as well. For those interested, please check with the crew on board for more details of updated price.

Although we reach in 30 minutes after the activity is opened, we need to queue for about 45 minutes to 1 hour for this. The queue is always very long as for FlowRider and rock climbing activities, so be prepared to queue under hot sun! FlowRider activity is too scary for me, I feel so hard to balance on the boogie board and keeps on being flushed away by the huge wave in front of me. Throughout the <3 minutes ride, I am being flushed and "knocked out" to the end of the slide, for like 3 times or more. although I am just using the beginner posture which is lying flat on stomach hahaha 😅! The instructor teaches me few times but I just too scare and can't listen to what he is talking about 😆. .

Later of the day when I view my video, I feel super funny 😂 and realize what is my mistake, but I am not keen to try again next time, just not my style. Don't get me wrong, this activity is the most popular one with the longest queue together with rock climbing, if you can enjoy  😎 ! For my hubby, he enjoys this activity and try to balance using his legs (more advanced level) for few seconds before being flushed away  😂 . Nonetheless, this is a good experience to keep us talking for quite some time! Life is a journey where you keep on learning new stuffs. You read from books, you experience from traveling 💜

Beside FlowRider, there is a paid activity called iFly. iFly is a gravity-defying experience where you float weightlessly in the air. For those interested to try iFly, may check with crew on board for more details as the price is subjected to change and different according to sailing departure country.


Tips:  Come early as soon as the activity is opened to avoid long queue. Best to do it on 1st day when the crowd is minimal.


Need to maintain social distance and patiently queue for this FlowRider activity.
There are 2 lanes available and each one of us only allowed <3 minutes to try.

FlowRider is located at the most aft/rear of the cruise ship.
You can enjoy the ocean view here while queuing for your turn.
Since it is unobstructed, it gets very sunny and sunburn easily.
But this does not stop everyone from queuing to play this!

The guy in front of me is so good! For beginner usually we just lie your stomach flat on the boogie board (example like the kid). However if you start to get the balance, instructor will ask you to try balance using your legs just like the guy here!
It is very hard to maintain the balance as the wave is super duper
big and flush you off from your board easily! 😂

Just beside FlowRider, this is the place to try iFly!

When we queue for FlowRider, there is someone trying out iFly too! 😄
Queing under hot sun is not fun, plus with face mask on. 😐
For me, I just feel so stressful and worried of the FlowRider activity
when is almost my turn soon haha! 😱😰

Breakfast @ Cafe Promenade

Restaurant Venue: Deck 4

After a tiring FlowRider experience (for me) / exciting FlowRider experience (for him), we go back to room and take a bath. We then head to breakfast in Cafe Promenade. We are not able to eat breakfast in Main Dining today, as the FlowRider queue is long and thus missed out the timing already. But fret not, you are not going to be hungry in Royal Caribbean Cruise. They have a few complimentary cafe for you to eat too! We come to Cafe Promenade which serves a wide varieties of snacks (such as pizza, sandwich, cookies, cakes) and drinks (such as coffees, teas), and they are all free flow too!

Cafe Promenade is usually busy during tea time or late night, it is a good place for people to gather around if you have nothing to do and just want to relax and grab some light tidbits. The queue can get long too during supper time, especially after entertainment or movie show at night. Good news for night owl, Cafe Promenade opens 24 hours!


Tips:  Cafe Promenade is an all day cafe, drop by to chill anytime!


Tired after FlowRider. But I am so ready for foods now! 😺

We come to Cafe Promenade to have our breakfast.
You can order drinks and some snacks here.
All of them are free flow too! 😃

Wide variety of snacks here for selection. Burger, sandwich, cake,
cookies and etcetera!

We able to secure a seat at the most corner of the cafe.
Time to have a quiet and leisure breakfast time here! 😎
Behind is actually a window that can let you see the beautiful ocean view.

We order coffee for today. We feel the coffee is just usual standard only,
the coffee bean is not very fragrant. But it is still ok to have quick fix when you are craving for coffee. And as always coffee pairs nicely with some cookies and cakes!
We do not order a lot as it is late breakfast (almost 11am) and our lunch time is coming soon.. Save tummy for the real deal.. 😋

Is quite hard to take photo without over-exposure with the glaring sunlight behind.

Lunch @ Main Dining

After breakfast and resting in room, is time for lunch! Yeah, foods intake again, I know 😅! It is the most usual activity that we will do throughout this 5D4N holidays  😂 ! Eat, eat, eat till you scare 😜! I am really missing the foods in Royal cruise, always nice to see and nice to eat 💜!


Our lunch of the day:

Appetizer: 
👉 Mozzarella sticks
 --> Mozzarella cheese coated with crispy garlic-seasoned panko breading, served with a zesty marinara dipping sauce


Main Course:
👉  Tempura catfish x 2
--> Sweet and spicy catfish deep fried to golden brown, served with a fragrant sauce and lemon


Dessert:
👉  No Sugar Added Chocolate Pot de Creme
--> Chocolate custard served cold with raspberry garnish
👉  Chocolate Ice Cream

for lunch time there is no fixed table like dinner.

Love this, yesterday ordered one during dinner.

Xbox


Venue: Seaplex @ Deck 15 
Booking Method: Walk in to Seaplex counter and reserve via staff assistance


After a fulfilling lunch, we head to Deck 15 Seaplex center. We have reserved Xbox gaming session at 2pm today, so here we come 😉 !   The game selection is not much for us to choose, only basic games such as car racing, wrestling, football, 3 to 1 matching and a few mores. I enjoy car racing game the most, although it starts from Level 1 which is very much beginner level, and hence it is easy to win as champion every round. 

They have social distance policy and one time only allows 3 groups in Xbox room here. 1 group has 2 people usually. Staff will give you the Xbox controller when it is your timing slot. We are given only 50 minutes for the session and need to return back the controller to counter when the time ends, for the next group of customer to use it.

TIPS: Level 1 of Seaplex has a big space much like a basketball court which is used for dance/exercise class (day time) and bumper car (night time). For day time dance/exercise class is based on 1st come 1st serve basis, just walk in and queue for the class. For bumper car is based on booking via Royal app.

TIPS: Level 2 of Seaplex has many rooms which has been segmented and used for Xbox, ping pong, table football, table hockey and etcetera. For level 2 activities, all of them need to reserve via staff assistance in Seaplex counter in level 1.


Xbox room is on level 2 of Seaplex, after climb the staircases and walk to the end to look for a room labeled Xbox here. It is an open area and  has a big window overlooking the vast ocean! 😻

1 group usually caters for 2 people here. Comfortable sofa for you
to sit down and have fun! 😸

Total of 3 tables here for 3 groups of people in this Xbox room.

We are using Xbox 4 like the label pasted on the wall.
When your time is up, they will announce through the broadcast for the specific Xbox number,  then we need to go to Level 1 and
return back the Xbox controller to staff.

Xbox is double the fun when you play it on cruise 🚢

Especially in love 💗 with the big window here, we use the last few minutes
to take some photos before leaving. The prop is of course Xbox controller 😎!



Leisure Walk


Venue: Deck 14


After Xbox at Seaplex, we walk around Deck 14 to kill some free time. You can look for Royal app and enrol some classes or activities which you are interested too! Or just sit at cafe and drink coffee doing nothing! It is a very relaxing holidays for you to "blank" and free up your mind! Although I feel not much activities being done, but everyday the time flies and in the blink of an eye, the trip is coming to an end already. There are still many activities that we yet to try too! Just like the Solarium (adult only pool area), it is crowded and full house when we come today. We are not able to secure any seats, moreover use the swimming pool and jacuzzi there. Solarium is beautiful and popular choice for adults!  Solarium is located at the most frontal part of the cruise, so you will be guaranteed with a beautiful and unobstructed ocean view.  🌊 💙

180 degree ocean view here while soaking in the pool or jacuzzi.
Talk about pampering me time here!
Often occupied, we are not able to enjoy Solarium for this trip unfortunately.
I not realized there is jacuzzi in Solarium too, and always head for indoor pool.
Nonetheless I feel grateful to be able to soak in jacuzzi already! 💛

You can sit here to chill or read some books while enjoying the
blue ocean + blue sky infinity view! 💙

A place we found it accidentally in Deck 14 (if not mistaken) where you can step on the transparent glass. Not suitable for the faint-hearted.
But honestly it is not very scary here, I am faint-hearted type and have vertigo issue, but this is ok for me, as long as you not always look down 👀!

I guess the reason for me to not scare is because of photo taking opportunity! 😂

The wall is beautifully decorated with 3D butterflies 🦋🦋
which stick on to the wall.
It makes a good backdrop for some photo shooting. 😊
Passengers who ride the lift can see the same view too.


Dinner @ Main Dining


Restaurant Name:   Main Dining
Dinner Date/Time: 10th Sep 2021/5.45pm (early slot)
Restaurant Venue: Deck 3 (refer to your Royal app, they split into Deck 3/4/5 for dinner to reduce the crowds)
Booking Method: Royal app (only book once and fixed timing slot for dinner throughout the whole trip)


It is time to enjoy our dinner again! We come to Main Dining at Deck 3, and go to same table seating as Day 1. For dinner, we can sit at a fixed table and personalized waitresses, like I have talked about in Day 1. You can read more details in Day 1 blog (link from the top or bottom of the page). 


Our dinner of the day:

Appetizer: 
👉 Salmon Gravlax
 --> Cured Atlantic salmon with thinly-sliced cucumber, onions, tomatoes, lemon, capers and honey-mustard dressing
👉  Crispy Coconut Shrimp x 2
--> Breaded coconut shrimp with a pineapple-red-onion slaw and sweet chilli dipping sauce
👉  Tom Kha Kai Soup
--> Spicy and sour chicken soup with coconut milk and lime
👉  Caesar Salad
--> Romaine, garlic croutons, parmesan, creamy caesar dressing

Main Course:
👉   Braised Lamb Shrank
--> Served with roaster garlic mashed potatoes, bean ragout, sauteed spinach and rosemary-lamb juice
👉   Shanghai Noodle
--> Wok-fried egg noodles tossed with char siu, shrimp and asian greens, grape tomatoes and a lemon-butter sauce

Dessert:
👉   Summer Fruit Pavlova
--> Baked meringue, lemon cream, macerated fresh berries
👉   Fruit Platter
👉   Chocolate Chip Cookies x 4



Tips: For  dinner, you need to  book through Royal app for the fixed timing slot throughout the whole trip. For  breakfast and lunch, you can just  walk in any time in between their mentioned operating hours in Royal app.

Tips: There are  2 main timing slots for dinner, one is  5.45pm-6pm (early slot). Another one is  8.15pm-8.30pm (late slot). 

Tips: It is better to opt for  early dinner slot if you are interested to see the entertainment show, as they have daily show at 8.15pm and 10.15pm. However, for those who p refer to do the on board activity (ie pool/gym/rock climbing/surfing and etcetera) which usually available at day time,  then may opt for late dinner. For me, I take early slot since everyone is recommending the world class entertainment show which I am not hoping to miss out any!  For the whole trip, we can only choose 1 timing slot for dinner, you can't rotate between early and night dinner slot.

Tips: You may go to  Cafe Promenade (another complimentary restaurant) for supper, after entertainment show at night. They serve pizza, cookies, sandwich, cakes, coffee, tea and etcetera, which is good to kill some time at night or if your tummy is screaming for more foods intake.

The prawn skin is breaded and fried till crispy.
When you bite inside, the prawn flesh is still fresh and chewy texture.
So nice that we order it again afterwards 😋!
This is where our personal waitress start to observe that I like to eat prawn!
She remembers my food preference and give me more prawns dishes as a surprise 😱😍 for my tomorrow dinner, stay tuned for Day 3!

Jacuzzi


Venue: Indoor Pool @ Deck 14
Booking Method:  not applicable, only can walk in and queue


In Quantum of the Seas, they have jacuzzi in indoor pool, outdoor pool and solarium (adult only pool area). All of them are usually occupied and you need to queue since they  limit the usage of jacuzzi to one family per time. They have time limit of 10 minutes only for each usage per group. So fret not, you no need worry to wait long before your turn and best is we can have the jacuzzi to ourselves only since they limit one group per time ✌💃!

Tips: Usage of jacuzzi is limited to one group at a time. Each group has 10 minutes soaking time.

Tips: Come at early morning or late night to avoid crowds. You can use the jacuzzi for more than 10 minutes since nobody is queuing!


Indoor pool has pool bar, sun lounges, swimming pools for adults,
kids pools, and two jacuzzi!
Swimming cool is just room temperature which is quite cool on board.
Jacuzzi is heated, excited to try 😍!
Waiting for our turn, has one group in front of us. We come here after our dinner.

Pampering jacuzzi session, Love this activity the most in cruise 💓!
I have soaked in jacuzzi for 3 times in this 5d4n trip hahaha,
you can tell how much my affection to them 👍!
I guess I am more suitable for this "quiet" activity than adventure 😏..?
If only their water has minerals too like hot spring (think too much 😅).
Skin tends to get dry if soak too long.
Jacuzzi is warm in temperature and the pressure of water jet is just nice
to massage your skin and get the stress away from you 💙!



Movie


Movie Name:   Chaos Walking
Movie Date/Time: 10th Sep 2021/9.30pm
Venue: Royal Theater @ Deck 4
Booking Method:  not applicable, only can walk in and queue


In Quantum of the Seas, they have different movies for you to enjoy everyday. Movie show can be day time or night time, depending on your chosen movie. There is "Soul" movie playing too when we are on board. However, we went to cinema and watch before already, I truly enjoyed the "Soul" movie, you can go ahead and watch if you have yet to see. For us, we get a night time movie called Chaos Walking, the main actor is Tom Holland, the so called spiderman guy. It is newly released in year 2021 and is a Sci-Fi type of movie. 

Honestly I would rate the show as average only, maybe there is no subtitle so I feel quite boring as I not really understand it well, blame my bad English and over reliance on subtitles as usual haha 😂! But I do enjoy eating chocolate cookies during move time (which I took away from dinner just now, I asked for only 2 cookies, but they gave us 4 cookies.. our waitresses always give us more than what we demand all the time.. very generous indeed..👍). We start to enjoy and take away chocolate cookies after dinner, from today onwards till the end of our cruise. Now I understand why the couple who sits beside us during dinner time, always take away >10 cookies every night (when they asked for 10, the waitress will give 12 or 14!). I can't resist the temptation to try when I see them keep on taking away haha 😂! Finally we talk to each other and more stories to come on Day 4, stay tuned 😃!

Tips:  For movie show, we are unable to reserve through Royal app, only can put in your personalized cruise planner itinerary, and a reminder will be sent to remind you of the upcoming movie activity.

Tips:  If you would like to have the best seating, do come as early as 30 minutes prior to the show.


Royal Theatre at Deck 4

Since we come early, still very empty with only few folks.
This is how it looks like for audience seats. It is a very spacious hall with comfortable cushioned chairs for you to sit back and enjoy the movie!

Waiting till 9.30pm for the movie showtime. This is the big screen.

OK, since there is nothing to do, let me just eat chocolate cookies 1st.
I just realized this is the only photo of chocolate cookies during the holidays.
We forgot to take the full plates of cookies photo that we usually
take away after dinner.





After show, we back to room and call it a day. That's it for Day 2. Errrm wait a moment, once we open the door, we see this on the bed 😂! It is a rabbit 🐰character, made by few folded towels, it is so cute and funny hahaha 💞! Service crew in Royal Caribbean Cruise never fails to surprise us, from restaurant waitresses to our housekeepers, great effort by the amazing team in Royal family, really deserve 5 stars ⭐! Ok, in order to not waste the effort of housekeeper, let me "kill" the rabbit head and take one photo as memory 📷🐇 . Good night, sleep tight. And prepare for more fun tomorrow! 😃
